Summary | ||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Takes neutral damage from Palkia's coverage moves. Light Screen helps Iron Valiant tank special attacks. Spirit Break also lowers Palkia's Sp. Atk by one stage. |
We recommend getting an Iron Valiant with a Fairy Tera Type to increase the damage of Spirit Break and keep Iron Valiant immune to Draco Meteor.
As a Physical Attacker, an Adamant nature would be best.
Tera Raid EV spreads should lean towards bulky offense to increase survivability while dealing as much damage as possible. Max out its Atk and Sp. Def EVs, while adding the rest into HP.
Give it a Shell Bell so that it can heal itself while using its attacking moves.
Iron Valiant Tera Raid Turn-by-Turn Counter Strategy | |
---|---|
Turn 1 | Use Light Screen to better tank Palkia's attacks. |
Turns 2~4 | Use Swords Dance to increase Iron Valiant's Attack to +6. |
Turns 5+ | Use Spirit Break until Palkia has been defeated. Remember to Terastallize when possible. |
Buffs Reset | Reset Swords Dance boosts and Light Screen when needed. |
At the start of the raid, use Light Screen to help bolster Iron Valiant's defense against special attacks. This is important because of how low Iron Valiant's base Sp. Def is.
Afterwards, use Swords Dance until Iron Valiant's Attack is +6. Once it is fully boosted, use Spirit Break until Palkia is defeated. Don't forget to Terastallize when possible.
When Palkia resets your stats, use Swords Dance again until Iron Valiant is back to +6 Attack.
Damage Dealt by Iron Valiant |
|
---|---|
Spirit Break (+6 Attack) 1432 ~ 1688 (14.8 ~ 17.5%) |
Using this strategy it should take approximately 11~15 turns to take out 5-Star Palkia. More turns may be required, depending on when it will put up its shield and reset stat changes.

Booster Energy |
The best ability for Iron Valiant in Tera Raid Battles is Quark Drive to further boost its Attack stat by 30% - allowing Iron Valiant to deal fatal blows to its opponents and take them down easily.
We also recommend getting an Iron Valiant with a Fighting Tera Type because of the boost it will give to its Fighting-type STAB. As a Physical Attacker, an Adamant nature would be best.
Tera Raid EV spreads should lean towards a bulky offense to help with survivability while dealing as much damage as possible. Max out your Attack and HP EVs, while adding the remaining EVs into Special Defense. Lastly, give it a Booster Energy for additional damage.
Start out a Tera Raid Battle by using Swords Dance to raise Iron Valiant's attack by 2 stages. Follow it up with a Super-Effective move and recover with Drain Punch as needed.

Booster Energy |
The only ability Iron Valiant has is Quark Drive, which boosts its highest stat when under Electric Terrain, or when holding a Booster Energy.
We also recommend getting an Iron Valiant with a Fairy Tera Type to boost its Fairy-type STAB. As a Special Attacker, a Modest nature would be best.
Tera Raid EV spreads should lean towards a bulky physical attacker to help with survivability while also dealing as much damage as possible. Max out your HP and Sp. Atk EVs, while adding the remaining EVs into Special Defense. Give it Booster Energy to gain a free stat boost at the start of the battle.
Iron Valiant Tera Raid Turn-by-Turn Strategy | |
---|---|
Turn 1~3 | Use Calm Mind to raise Iron Valiant's Sp. Atk and Sp. Def. |
Turns 4~6 | Use Moonblast to deal stat-boosted STAB damage. |
Optional | Use stat boosted Psyshock, or Aura Sphere against types that resist Fairy, such as Steel. |
Turns 7+ | Terastallize and use stat boosted Moonblast, Psyshock or Aura Sphere, depending on the Raid Pokemon's Tera type. |
Start the raid by using Calm Mind three times to boost its Special Attack and Special Defense. Iron Valiant's main damaging move is Moonblast, which gains STAB, has a chance to lower the target's Sp. Atk stat, and enjoys the boosts from Calm Mind.
Psyshock and Aura Sphere serve as coverage moves that also benefit from the Calm Mind stat boosts, but deal Super Effective damage against a variety of types that Moonblast can't hit effectively.
