Increases its physical bulk the more times its hit. Very fast compared to other bulky Assault Vest users. Many natural resistances, but has common weaknesses. |
Ability | Held Item | |
---|---|---|
Stamina | Assault Vest |
The Ability chosen for this build is Stamina. This will boost Archaludon's Defense every time it's hit, powering up Body Press in the process.
The item chosen for this build is an Assault Vest. This helps boost its very low Sp. Def stat, making it an incredibly difficult Pokemon to knockout.
Also, this item is essential so that Archaludon can use Stamina instead of Sturdy so that it is less likely to get OHKO'd.
Flash Cannon | Draco Meteor |
Body Press | Tera Blast |
Flash Cannon is its best Steel-type STAB move that has no downsides. It also has the added bonus of having a 10% chance of lowering the opponent's Sp. Def by one stage.
Draco Meteor is its strongest Dragon-type STAB move, but it lowers Archaludon's Sp. Atk by two stages everytime it's used.
Body Press is its best Fighting-type STAB move since it uses Archaludon's amazing Defense stat in its damage calculation. As a bonus, its damage will also increase everytime Archaludon's hit thanks to Sturdy.
Tera Blast becomes a great Flying-type coverage move once Archaludon Terastallizes.

(2x) | ||
Damaged Normally By: |
(1x) | |
Resists: | (0.5x) | |
Immune to: | (0x) |
Flying is the best Tera Type for this build because it turns Archaludon's Fighting weakness into a resist and its Ground weakness into an immunity.
Best Flying (Tera) Type Pokemon for Ranked Battle
A full 252 EVs are placed in Archaludon's HP and Sp. Atk to make it as bulky as possible while still being able to hit hard. The extra 4 EVs are put into its Sp. Def to help round out its bulk.
A Modest nature is preferred to maximize Archaludon's damage output.
Thunderbolt | Alternative coverage move that can be used over Tera Blast so that Archaludon has another attacking move that doesn't need it to Terastallize. |
---|---|
Aura Sphere | Used over Body Press for cases where it is better to use a special attack over a physical one. |
Heavy Slam | Alternate Steel-type move that does more damage to frail and light Pokemon like Flutter Mane. |
Dragon Pulse | Does significantly less damage than Draco Meteor, but won't lower Archaludon's stats every time it's used. |

The item chosen for this build is an Assault Vest. This helps boost its very low Sp. Def stat, making it an incredibly difficult Pokemon to knockout. This is an important Held Item for Archaludon, as it will not be able to take Draco Meteor from Walking Wake otherwise, nor will it be able to take Choice Specs Tera Fairy Moonblast from Flutter Mane.
Also, this item is essential so that Archaludon can use Stamina instead of Sturdy so that it is less likely to get OHKO'd.
Electro Shot | Body Press |
Heavy Slam | Draco Meteor |
Electro Shot increases Archaludon's Special Attack by 1 stage, making its Draco Meteor even more powerful in later turns. This requires a turn to set up, however, so using this move with Power Herb or Rain is advised.
Body Press is its best Fighting-type STAB move since it uses Archaludon's amazing Defense stat in its damage calculation. As a bonus, its damage will also increase everytime Archaludon's hit thanks to Stamina.
Heavy Slam is preferred over Flash Cannon, as it can cleanly KO even bulky variants of Flutter Mane.
Draco Meteor is its strongest Dragon-type STAB move, but it lowers Archaludon's Sp. Atk by two stages everytime it's used.

Game8's Competitive Damage Calculator
Archaludon has a lot of great natural resistances, but its Fighting and Ground weaknesses are very common in the current metagame. Make sure to eliminate these threats first so that Archaludon can have a more comfortable time in battle.
Archaludon is a great defensive pivot due to its many resistances. Make sure that you pair it with other teammates that can cover its two key weaknesses.
Special Attacker | Special Attacker | Physical Attacker |
---|---|---|
Flutter Mane | Archaludon | Ogerpon (Hearthflame Mask) |
Flutter Mane and Hearthflame Ogerpon are used to cover for Archaludon's Fighting and Ground weaknesses respectively. Considering that these two Pokemon are relatively frail, Archaludon becomes a great defensive pivot to come in and tank hits for its two allies.
Special Attacker | Support / Special Attacker |
---|---|
Archaludon | Tornadus (Incarnate Forme) |
Physical Attacker | Support / Physical Attacker |
Annihilape | Maushold |
Archaludon can benefit from Tornadus-I's manual Rain Dance, allowing it to set up Electro Shot in one turn. It is also able to enjoy support from Friend Guard Maushold, who can redirect damage away from it with Follow Me, and trigger Stamina multiple times with Beat Up.
This same Maushold can also be used to complement Annihilape and boost its Rage Fist, or have it run a Technician with Population Bomb set which also benefits from Tornadus's Tailwind.
