The main goal for this specific build and EV Spread for Iron Jugulis is to outspeed and OHKO a sweeper type Dragapult. This build also allows Iron Jugulis to shut down sweepers such as Iron Bundle and Mimikyu due to its high Special Attack and Speed.
Even with its amazing Speed Stat and the boost from Choice Scarf, Iron Bundle and Iron Valiant can outspeed you if they activate their Quark Drive to boost their Speed.
Iron Jugulis does not pack enough firepower to sweep alone, so build a team with supports that can help Iron Jugulis in different situations.

Good Special Attack and Speed Stats. Good selection of coverage moves. Can support its team with Tailwind. |
As with all Future Paradox Pokemon, Iron Jugulis has Quark Drive. With Booster Energy, Iron Jugulis gets a Speed boost, allowing it to set Tailwind even quicker.
Dark Pulse and Air Slash are Iron Jugulis' main STAB Moves, which it can use interchangebly. Both these Moves have a chance to flinch, so fishing for flinches is an option, but is not a strategy one should rely on.
Tailwind is the most important Move of the set, as it can enable attackers from your side of the field to be viable especially if they have middling Speed stats.
Protect is another important Move for Iron Jugulis, as it can be a hot target for Fake Out because of its Speed.
This build makes use of Tera Steel as it lets Iron Jugulis gain resistances to weaknesses it would otherwise have.
252 Speed EVs and a Timid Nature works in tandem with Booster Energy, which will allow Iron Jugulis to outspeed nearly all unboosted Pokemon in the format. 252 Special Attack EVs are given so that it can deal more damage with Dark Pulse and Air Slash, with the remaining 4 EVs then put into Speed.
Snarl | Iron Jugulis can be useful as a quick Snarl user, who can reduce the damage output of Special Attackers on the opponent's side of the field. |
---|---|
Hurricane | A more powerful Flying-type option compared to Air Slash. This is a better option if Iron Jugulis is in a Rain Team. |
Damage Dealt by Iron Jugulis |
|
---|---|
Dark Pulse 164 ~ 194 (100.6 ~ 119%) Guaranteed OHKO |
|
Air Slash 96 ~ 114 (50.5 ~ 60%) Guaranteed 2-Hit KO |
Iron Jugulis has high base stats in Speed and Special Attack, which makes it an effective late game sweeper. Compared to other Sweepers, Iron Jugulis does not pack enough firepower to sweep the enemy team in one or two hits, but makes up for it with its amazing learn pool.
Compared to Hydreigon, Iron Jugulis does not have 4x Weakness to Fairy type moves, allowing you to withstand moves like Play Rough from Mimikyu.
Paradox Pokemon Builds for Competitive Battles and Tera Raids
Iron Jugulis works best as a Late Game sweeper, but is clearly lacking in firepower. Pair it with Hazard Setters and Offensive tanks to deal as much damage as possible before sending Iron Jugulis out.
Hazard Setter | Offensive Tank | Late Game Sweeper |
---|---|---|
Glimmora | Gholdengo | Iron Jugulis |
Tailwind Setter / Special Attacker | Physical Attacker |
---|---|
Iron Jugulis | Palafin |
Physical Attacker | Support / Special Attacker |
Iron Treads | Pelipper |
Iron Jugulis can set Tailwind for its teammates with middling Speed such as Palafin and Iron Treads. Palafin can switch out for Pelipper, who can set Rain with its Drizzle Ability, and increase the accuracy of Iron Jugulis' Hurricanes.
Iron Treads is a Physical Attacker who benefits from Tailwind, and can be an offensive threat once its Fire weakness is mitigated by the Rain.
Iron Jugulis does not have enough firepower alone, so use bulky offensive Pokemon that can withstand Iron Jugulis' attacks and deal x2 damage against it.
