・ Flash Cannon ・ Volt Switch ・ Tera Blast |
This Magnezone build makes use of the held item Assault Vest to increase Magnezone's Special Defense against common Special Attackers like Gholdengo and Wash Rotom.
Magnezone's natural bulk, paired with an Assault Vest allows it to withstand high firepower moves, making it an excellent pivot with Volt Switch.
The Water Tera Typing allows Magnezone to stay on the field against Fire-types, and retaliate with Water Tera Blast.
Discharge | A weaker Electric-type move but has a 30% chance to inflict paralysis. |

This build focuses on boosting Magnezone's Special Attack with the help of Choice Specs, allowing you to make quick work of Special Tanks like Garganacl and Dondozo.
Steel Beam is Magnezone's strongest attack in this build, whith a base power of 140, you can OHKO most tanks. Since Magnezone has a low speed stat, use Steel Beam sparingly, typically as your last resort, since it will reduce your HP to half.
The Water Tera Typing allows Magnezone to receive neutral damage from Ground Types, and take half damage from Fire types instead.
Tera Blast | Coverage move against Fire and Ground types after Terastallizing |

Damage Dealt by Magnezone |
|

Flash Cannon 174 ~ 206 (84 ~ 99.5%) Guaranteed 2-Hit KO |
|
Flash Cannon 144 ~ 169 (88.3 ~ 103.6%) 25% Chance to OHKO |
|
Steel Beam 192 ~ 226 (89.3 ~ 105.1%) 31.3% Chance to OHKO |
Magnezone's high Special Attack gives it enough firepower to go against most Pokemon, but suffers from very low Speed.
Since Magnezone is naturally bulky, and has access to Volt Switch, regardless of which build you choose, you can use Magnezone as a Bulky Pivot that can deal large amounts of damage, and switch to your sweepers once needed.
You can either use Magnezone as your lead, or as your second Pokemon, typically using it with another Tanky Pokemon and a Physical or Special Sweeper.
Bulky Offense | Physical Tank | Special Sweeper |
---|---|---|
Magnezone | Corviknight | Hydreigon |
Lead | Bulky Pivot | Physical Sweeper |
---|---|---|
Palafin | Magnezone | Dragonite |
Magnezone is 4x weak to Ground types, and by using a Ground type Pokemon, you will be able to nullify its STAB moves.
You can also use Pokemon with high Speed and firepower against Magnezone, since it suffers from a very low Speed stat.
