Ability and Held Item

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Comfey Image
Ability Held Item
Triage Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Covert Cloak ImageCovert Cloak

Triage is Comfey's best Ability, which gives all of its healing options increased priority.

The chosen Item for Comfey is Covert Cloak, to protect it from flinching from Fake Out, which opponents may use to try and delay your Weakness Policy strategy.

Alternatively, a Mental Herb may be useful as well if Comfey is running a Trick Room set.

Moves Breakdown

Draining Kiss Floral Healing
Helping Hand Taunt

Draining Kiss is Comfey's sole damaging Move, but its main purpose is triggering its partner's Weakness Policy. This works in tandem with Fairy-weak partners such as Galarian Moltres, or a Dragon-type like Raging Bolt.

Floral Healing can help its teammates stay healthy. This is valuable and effective with Comfey's Ability, allowing it to heal its allies with increased priority.

Helping Hand can increase its partner's offensive power, which may prove useful when it is clicking Spread attacks.

And Taunt can prevent opposing Pokemon from setting up Trick Room, which may prove disadvantageous to Comfey's usually fast partners.

Pokemon Poison Type Icon

Steel is the best Tera Type for this build as it can remove Comfey's weaknesses to Steel and Poison. Though Tera will be better utilized by its teammates, a defensive Tera may prove useful in certain situations.

EV Spread and Nature

A full 252 is put into Comfey's HP stat, ensuring that it has as much HP as possible. 100 EVs are put into its Defense, while prioritizing Special Defense with 156 EVs, to increase Comfey's survivability to Landorus-I's Sludge Bomb.

A Calm Nature is preferred for this build to further increase Comfey's Special bulk.

Other Viable Moves

Trick Room Trick Room may prove useful if Comfey has slower teammates to support. This is also a strong option for reversing Trick Room against dedicated Trick Room teams.
Tailwind A useful option for giving your team a Speed advantage.
Protect Because Comfey is a support Pokemon, it will often be a hot target on the field. Protect can help waste meaningful turns for your opponent and allow your team more opportunities to enact is gameplan.

How to Use Comfey Effectively

Use Comfey's Priority Support

Comfey's unique Triage Ability allows it to use healing moves with increased priority. This is useful for a number of different situations such as healing teammaes, or triggering Weakness Policy.

Comfey is also modestly bulky, so it is often able to stick around battles for more than a few turns.

How to Build a Team with Comfey

Comfey is best used in a support role for teams with Weakness Policy Pokemon. Consider pairing Comfey with Dark or Dragon-type Pokemon like Galarian Moltres or Raging Bolt!

Sample Doubles Team

Support Special Attacker
Comfey ImageComfey Terapagos (Terastal Form) ImageTerapagos (Terastal Form)
Physical Attacker Physical Attacker
Dragonite ImageDragonite Chien-Pao ImageChien-Pao

Comfey makes for a great partner for Terapagos in Regulation G, being able to keep it healthy with Floral Healing. It is also able to lend its support through Speed Control options like Tailwind and Trick Room, and increase Terapagos's damage output with Helping Hand.

Dragonite and Chien-Pao make up for a solid back-end who can close out games.

KO Comfey Quickly

It is best to quickly dispose of Comfey before it can contribue to a battle. Its partners get exponentially stronger the more support Comfey is able to offer. Cutting off that support can make battles more manageable.
