When you arrive at Team Star's Base you will first have to face a Team Star grunt in a battle. After that you will be met with waves of Team Grunt's Pokemon and the Team Star Boss Battle in quick succession, so make sure you prepare your team and items fully before approaching the base.

Pokemon Recommended Moves and Explanation
Azumarill ImageAzumarill 【Recommended Move】
Aqua Tail
Rain Dance
Aqua Tail hits both Torkoal and Revavroom for weakness with the one move. If it has the Huge Power Ability, the power of this move will be doubled. You can catch a Marill at the beach area to the North East of the Schedar Base.
Psyduck ImagePsyduck 【Recommended Move】
Water Pulse
Aqua Tail
Psyduck also hits both of Mela's Pokemon for weakness with its Water type moves. If it has the ability Cloud Nine, Torkoal's Drought will not take effect.
Donphan ImageDonphan 【Recommended Move】
Bulldoze
Bulldoze hits both Torkoal and Revavroom for weakness with the one move. You can find Donphan's pre-evolution, Phanpy towards the South-East of the map.
Clodsire ImageClodsire 【Recommended Move】
Mud Shot
Mudshot hits both Torkoal and Revavroom for weakness with the one move. Mudshot also lowers the opponent's speed in addition to dealing damage. Paldean Wooper is found very early on in the game (before Los Platos) so it would be a great idea to train one up.

Utilize Water or Ground types to deal with Mela's Fire Type Pokemon. Rock Types also work well, however you need to be mindful of opposing Steel type moves. Overall Water Types work the best as not only do they deal super effective damage, but they also resist Mela's Pokemon's Fire Type moves.

How to Beat Schedar Starmobile

Ability Effect
Speed Boost Increases the user's Speed by one stage at the end of each turn.

Mela's Starmobile has the ability Speed Boost, which means it will become faster every turn, eventually outspeeding all your Pokemon. Fighting the Starmobile after Torkoal also means that there will be harsh sunlight thanks to Torkoal's Drought, so use Ground or Rock Type moves instead of Water to avoid the damage reduction and finish the battle quickly with super-effective moves!

Team Star Rematch Battles: All STC Rematch Teams Guide

Strategy and Tips to Beat Mela's Rematch Team

Use Water and Ground-type Pokemon

In your rematch battle against Mela, your best strategy will still be to utilize Water and Ground type Pokemon, as they are highly effective against all of Mela's Pokemon. Take advantage of potential one-hit knockouts against Mela's Pokemon, by using type matchups to your advantage. Use Ground types against Coalossal, to hit it for 4x weakness without activating its Steam Engine Ability.

When using mono-Water or Ground Pokemon, keep in mind that Mela's Armarouge knows the move Energy Ball, which deals super effective damage to both of these Types, potentially one shotting your Pokemon if you are unprepared.

Mela's Story Role

Mela Background

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Mela
Mela is Team Star's best all-rounder. Her devotion to completing anything she puts her mind to earned her the trust of her teammates. She tends to barge her way through any problems that come her way.

Name Origin

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Mela
Mela's name could be derived from the Gumamela plant (Tagalog), or HIbiscus in English. The Gumamela's flower comes in different colors, but is often associated with the color red. Additionally, Mela's hairstyle closely resembles a Gumamela flower.
