You can check your Pokemon's friendship level in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV) by either visiting the Friendship Checker, or by having a picnic! Read on to learn how to check friendship levels, as well as the reward you can get when you max out your friendship with your Pokemon.

You can check your Pokemon's friendship by talking to the woman with a Marill in Cascarrafa City. She can be found near the fountain at the center of the city.

Friendship Checker Evaluations

The Friendship Checker will describe the level of friendship you have with your Pokemon. You can get an idea of how good your friendship is with your Pokemon based on her description.

Friendship Level Description Evolve Pokemon with High Friendship?
Highest "Whoa, You're the best friends ever! I can tell just being together gives you warm fuzzies!" ✅
Higher "Wow, you're pretty great friends! You sure mean a lot to each other." ✅
High "You're good friends, all right! You definitely enjoy each other's company!" ✅
Mid "You're getting along well...but I'm sure you could get way friendlier!" Possible
Low "You're starting to get friendly. I bet you'll get along better soon!" ❌
Base Friendship "You two seem kinda neutral - like you don't mind each other. I hope you get closer!" ❌

If you're on the higher end of the mid-level threshold, it will be possible to evolve Pokemon that require higher friendship.

Talk with Your Pokemon During Picnics

Checking Friendship Levels in Picnics - Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV)

Another way to check your friendship level with a Pokemon is by interacting with them during picnics. Simply approach your Pokemon, press the A button, and you will see a bunch of hearts appear above them.

Heart Level Indication

The number of hearts that show up above your Pokemon corresponds to how friendly you are with them, just like the descriptions given by the Cascarrafa Friendship Checker.

If your Pokemon's friendship stat is maxed out when you talk to the woman at Cascarrafa City, she will reward you with the Best Friends Ribbon. This ribbon can be seen on the Pokemon's summary screen.
