・ Light Screen ・ Parting Shot ・ Spirit Break |
Grimmsnarl's ability Prankster allows it to set up Reflect and Light Screen safely by giving you priority which makes you move before your opponent.
Parting Shot also allows Grimmsnarl to escape a bad matchup, while also lowering the opponent's Attack.
Taunt | Taunt may be taken instead of Parting Shot to prevent set ups from your opponent's Pokemon. |
---|---|
Thunder Wave | Thunder Wave may also be taken as an alternative for a priority paralyze |

Foul Play
・ Spirit Break ・ Thunder Wave ・ Trick |
Grimmsnarl's ability Prankster gives it priority when using status moves, allowing you to use Trick during the first round, immediately giving your opponent the Lagging Tail.
Lagging Tail makes the holder move last every turn, allowing your team to make quick work against squishy carries that are originally built with high Speed.
Sucker Punch | Can be taken as a Dark type damaging move against more offensive Pokemon |

Reflect
・ Light Screen ・ Misty Terrain ・ Spirit Break |
Similar to the Singles Build, Grimmsnarl also wants to set up Screens in Doubles. It can deal big damage with Spirit Break against Dark-types and Dragon-types thanks to its high Attack Stat.
Misty Terrain is a reliable way to protect your Pokemon from Status Conditions, most notably Sleep and Burn.
Thunder Wave | A solid Status Move that works as disruption as well as Speed Control. |
---|
Prankster gives priority to status moves, which means Grimmsnarl will always move first when using moves like Reflect and Trick. Set up as much as you can while Grimmsnarl is on the field, to give as much advantage to the rest of your team as possible!
Grimmsnarl is best used as a lead setter, so bring Pokemon that can take advantage of the offensive or defensive boosts that Grimmsnarl can consistently provide!

---|---|---|
Grimmsnarl | Wash Rotom | Dragonite |
Screen Setter | Special Attacker |
---|---|
Grimmsnarl | Hydreigon |
Special | Physical Attacker |
Gholdengo | Garchomp |
Grimmsnarl and Hydreigon are great leads against Indeedee-F and Armarouge. Both are immune to Expanding Force, and can mitigate damage with Screens and Snarl.
Besides Indeedee and Armarouge, these two Dark-types are also great leads together because of Grimmsnarl's ability to mitigate damage with Screens and debuff opponents with Parting Shot, making it so these Pokemon aren't afraid to go up against even Fairy-types.
Gholdengo and Garchomp are good Pokemon to have in the back, ready to pick off Pokemon late game.
