Pokemon SV - How to Get Starter Pokemon

Each starter Pokemon in the Terarium spawns in different locations and can be unlocked by completing the Biodiversity Requests in the Support Board in The Indigo Disk DLC in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV). Learn where to find all the starters and how to unlock them in this guide.

Where to Find All Starters in The Indigo Disk DLC

Jump to a Specifc Starter's Location

Multiple generations of Pokemon starters can be caught in the wild in various locations in the diverse biomes of the Terarium. Some of these starters spawn in very specific locations such as caves or ponds, while some spawn in more general areas of a biome.

To start catching these starters, however, the Boost Biome Diversity Request for their respective biome must be completed first in the Support Board.

Bulbasaur

Bulbasaur appears in the mountainous area south of the Coastal Biome. Travel to this area by flying to the Coastal Outdoor Classroom fly-point, which is on top of the mountain.

Charmander can be found in the vast plains of the central and southern areas of the Savanna Biome. You can access this area easily by flying to the Savannah Rest Area 1, or Savanna Outdoor Classrom fly-points.

Squirtle spawns along the southern section of the great river in the Canyon Biome. Fly to either the Canyon Plaza or Canyon Outdoor Classroom fly-point to access this area.

Cyndaquil exclusively spawns in a particular cave on an island in the northeast part of the Polar Biome. Fly to the Polar Rest Area fly-point and cross the water towards the island to the east. The cave's entrance is found on the southern part of the island.

Totodile spawns in two particular ponds in the Savanna Biome. The first pond is the one in the north, and the other is the small one in the center of the Savanna Biome. Fly to the Savannah Outdoor Classroom fly-point to get to these places quickly.

Mudkip appears inside the Torchlit Labyrinth, which is a large cave system located beneath the large mountain in the Coastal Biome. An entrance to this cave can be accessed to the south of the Coastal Outdoor Classroom fly-point.

Though Chespin can be cought in both the Polar Biome and Canyon Biome areas, Chespin is part of the Boost Canyon Biome Biodiversity request in the Support Board.

Complete Boost Biodiversity Support Board Requests

Pokemon SV Indigo Disk - Complete Boost Biodiversity Support Board Requests

Completing the Boost Biodiversity requests in the Support Board adds Starter Pokemon in their corresponding biomes. Note that each request costs 3,000 BP so you need to farm a lot of points before you can complete it. In total, you need 12,000 BP to have all the starter Pokemon appear in the Terarium.

There is a rare chance that all of the returning Starter Pokemon can have Mass Outbreaks occur inside their respective habitats. This implies that you can easily hunt for your favorite Starter's shiny form!

Eating Sandwiches is recommended

There is a rare chance to find the Starter Pokemon compared to other Pokemon, so it is recommended to eat sandwiches to increase the chance of encountering these Starter Pokemon.

You can make the sandwiches listed below to increase the encounter rates of Grass, Fire, or Water-type Starters.

Apparently chespin doesn’t count as polar biome. It’ll only show up in chargestone cave if you have the canyon biome upgrade unlocked
