・ Earth Power ・ Stealth Rock ・ Mirror Coat |
This Sandy Shocks functions as a lead, using Volt Switch and Earth Power to deal neutral coverage.
Stealth Rock sets up entry hazards and helps dissuade opposing Choice-locked Pokemon from switching in and out of the battlefield.
Its last move is Mirror Coat, which deals twice the damage it received on the last turn against the opponent and can synergizes well with Focus Sash.
Power Gem | Power Gem gives Sandy Shocks a Rock-type Move, which is useful if your team needs the Rock-type coverage. |

Moveset | ・
Thunderbolt
・ Flash Cannon ・ Earth Power ・ Protect |
Sandy Shocks can slot in nicely into teams that need a powerful Electric-type. With Booster Energy, its +1 to Special Attack allows it to take decisive KOs on Pokemon like Gholdengo, Flutter Mane, and Azumarill using Earth Power, Flash Cannon and Thunderbolt respectively.
Protect is useful for passive turns where you have to stall out an opponent's Tailwind or Trick Room.
Like the Singles Build, Doubles Sandy Shocks also makes great use of Tera Electric. This causes Sandy Shocks to lose 3 of its 4 weaknesses while giving it a boost to its Electric-type Moves.
Volt Switch | Volt Switch can get Sandy Shocks out of tough situations without committing to a hard switch. |

Sandy Shocks sits at a comfortable 101 Base Speed. This puts it a point below Garchomp, but still above Gholdengo and Hydreigon. Have Sandy Shocks enter the field at opportune moments against Pokemon that it can readily check, and be prepared for possible switch-ins.
Sandy Shocks appreciates teammates that can allow it to come in safely and go on the offensive. Screens support from Grimmsnarl or Tailwind support in Double Battles are a good way to protect your Sandy Shocks.
Paradox Pokemon Builds for Competitive Battles and Tera Raids
Teammates that can support Sandy Shocks with Speed Control are greatly appreciated, as well as teammates that can boost its defenses. Sandy Shocks works best not as a lead, but mid to late game.
Defensive switch-ins are also appreciated because Sandy Shocks has weaknesses to four common attacking types.
Physically Offensive teammates are also useful to have, as they may be able to break through Special Walls that Sandy Shocks may have breaking through.
Support | Special Attacker | Special Attacker |
---|---|---|
Grimmsnarl | Sandy Shocks | Volcarona |
Grimmsnarl can set up Screens for Sandy Shocks, as well as Speed control with Scary Face and Thunder Wave. It can also debuff opponents with Parting Shot, which can set up a smooth entry for Sandy Shocks.
Volcarona can nicely check Ice and Grass-types which Sandy Shocks has trouble breaking through. It also benefits from Grimmsnarl's support.
Support / Physical Attacker | Special Attacker |
---|---|
Talonflame | Sandy Shocks |
Support / Redirection | Physical Attacker |
Amoonguss | Dragonite |
Talonflame can help its team move quicker with Tailwind. It also checks Grass and Ice-types that Sandy Shocks may have trouble damaging. It is also great for checking Ice-types that give the rest of the team trouble.
Amoonguss offers redirection for its team, redirecting super-effective Water-type moves and single-target Ground-type Moves like Stomping Tantrum away from Sandy Shocks.
Dragonite rounds out the team as a Physical Attacker that can switch-in to Ground-type Moves.
Common offensive Pokemon like Garchomp and Meowscarada outspeed Sandy Shocks and can threaten with super-effective damage. This will force Sandy Shocks to either switch or take the KO.
Grass-types like Brute Bonnet can also switch in and soak up an Electric-type Move with ease.
