This team has several lead options that a player can choose depending on what they're up against using Pokemon that have great synergy with each other. The team has a focus on offense, taking decisive KOs quickly and gaining the momentum quickly before the opponent can build a strong board position.
That said, it may struggle against more defensive team set ups like bulky Trick Room-oriented teams.
Nature | Jolly (+Spe, -Sp. Atk) |
---|---|
EV Spread | 252 Atk / 4 Sp. Def / 252 Spe |
Final Stat Values | 183 HP / 182 Atk / 115 Def / 106 SpD / 169 Spe |
Ability | Rough Skin |
Tera Type | |
Held Item | Clear Amulet |
Moveset | ・
Stomping Tantrum
・ Earthquake ・ Dragon Claw ・ Protect |
Garchomp with Clear Amulet is powerful and consistent, with reliable moves in Dragon Claw and Earthquake. Dragon Claw gives Garchomp a way to dispose of opposing Dragons, which it usually outspeeds and KOs, while Earthquake is a useful spread move. Stomping Tantrum is in this set to be used against opponents that might have Wide Guard.
Garchomp also benefits heavily from Murkrow's Tailwind. This is especially useful for matching opposing teams' Tailwinds, allowing Garchomp to still outspeed the likes of Hydreigon and Gholdengo who also usually come with their own Tailwind support.
Nature | Jolly (+Spe, -Sp. Atk) |
---|---|
EV Spread | 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe |
Final Stat Values | 146 HP / 167 Atk / 90 Def / 80 Sp. Def / 172 Spe |
Ability | Volt Absorb |
Tera Type | |
Held Item | Focus Sash |
Moveset | ・
Close Combat
・ Double Shock ・ Revival Blessing ・ Fake Out |
Pawmot outspeeds Base 104 and slower Pokemon, most notably Garchomp and Hydreigon.
Close Combat and Double Shock are Pawmot's main STAB options, wih Double Shock having the drawback of being usable only once. This is circumvented by Terastallizing Pawmot, which allows you to use Double Shock without losing Pawmot's typing.
Fake Out is a great move for breaking Focus Sashes. Pawmot's faster Fake Out is also useful against slower Fake Out users like Hariyama and Tinkaton. The threat of Fake Out can also make opponents use Protect, which opens up opportunities to use Revival Blessing.
Revival Blessing is a very powerful tool that allows Pawmot to bring back a fainted teammate at half health. This is great for bringing back a key attacker for a matchup.
Pawmot, with access to both Fake Out and Close Combat, is good against opposing Meowscarada who gives Garchomp and Gholdengo a tough time.
Nature | Modest (+Sp. Atk, -Atk) |
---|---|
EV Spread | 4 HP / 252 Sp. Atk / 252 Spe |
Final Stat Values | 163 HP / 115 Def / 203 Sp. Atk / 111 Sp. Def / 136 Spe |
Ability | Good as Gold |
Tera Type | |
Held Item | Choice Specs |
Moveset | ・
Make It Rain
・ Shadow Ball ・ Power Gem ・ Thunderbolt |
Gholdengo is a powerful Attacker that can benefit from Murkrow's support. Its Make it Rain Attack is often a good choice to just click, with few ways to counterplay it.
Make it Rain and Shadow Ball are both standard Gholdengo STAB options that are important to every Gholdengo set. Power Gem is a tech move that is useful against Volcarona, Heat Rotom, and Kilowattrel.
Thunderbolt is included as it is great against Tera Flying Tyranitar and Palafin, who Gholdengo can outspeed under Tailwind.
Nature | Calm (+Sp. Def, -Sp. Atk) |
---|---|
EV Spread | 252 HP / 148 Def / 108 Sp. Def |
Final Stat Values | 167 HP / 81 Def (121 with Eviolite) / 108 Sp. Def (162 with Eviolite) / 111 Spe |
Ability | Prankster |
Tera Type | |
Held Item | Eviolite |
Moveset | ・
Foul Play
・ Taunt ・ Tailwind ・ Haze |
Prankster Murkrow can offer support early or late-game. It can offer Speed boosts in the form of Tailwind for your Attackers, or it can remove debuffs with Haze.
Murkrow is typically run as a lead, as it allows you to play reactively.
It is not a bad option to have late-game either as it can meet an opposing Dondozo and Haze away its Stat buffs.
Nature | Timid (+Spe, -Atk) |
---|---|
EV Spread | 4 HP / 252 Sp. Atk / 252 Spe |
Final Stat Values | 146 HP / 85 Def / 137 Sp. Atk / 85 Sp. Def / 190 Spe |
Ability | Regenerator |
Tera Type | |
Held Item | Life Orb |
Moveset | ・
Draco Meteor
・ Overheat ・ Shed Tail ・ Protect |
An underrated offensive Pokemon, Cyclizar can outspeed top threats like Garchomp, Hydreigon and Gholdengo.
Shed Tail is an excellent move for giving teammates a Substitute to protect them, allowing them to switch in safely. Protect is excellent for turns where Cyclizar is in danger of being double-targetted.
Fire Tera is used to boost Overheat's power and KO Pokemon like Amoonguss, but be sure to only Terastallize Cyclizar when necessary as the team has other more potent Tera options.
Nature | Brave (+Atk, -Spe) |
---|---|
EV Spread | 124 HP / 252 Atk / 132 Sp. Def |
Final Stat Values | 191 HP / 205 Atk / 140 Def / 122 Sp. Def / 49 Spe |
Ability | Defiant |
Tera Type | |
Held Item | Safety Goggles |
Moveset | ・
Kowtow Cleave
・ Sucker Punch ・ Iron Head ・ Protect |
Kingambit is the team's slowest Pokemon and is also its best Pokemon for Trick Room. Though it is not as slow as Torkoal and Amoonguss, it is able to reduce Torkoal's Eruption damage output with Sucker Punch, and is able to completely ignore Amoonguss thanks to Safety Goggles.
Iron Head is its secondary STAB move which lets it hit Fairy-types for super-effective. Protect rounds out the set because it is an all around great move to have.
Kingambit has Tera Ghost, which is used to give it immunity to Fighting and Normal-type Moves, most notably Hariyama's Close Combat and Fake Out. But it must be wary of Knock Off while it is in Tera Ghost.
Murkrow can support Gholdengo by giving it a speed boost with Tailwind, or remove stat drops with Haze after a successful Make it Rain. Murkrow also has good synergy with Cyclizar, whose offensive moves both cause Special Attack decreases.
Garchomp and Gholdengo can both come out as leads and use Earthquake and Make it Rain next to each other if Gholdengo Terastallizes into Flying. This powerful lead combination may be hard walled by Wide Guard, so be wary of Wide Guard users.
Pawmot can appear early or late game, offering Fake Out support and using Revival Blessing to revive a fainted teammate. It is also a pretty decent Physical Attacker who should not be underestimated.
Cyclizar is great against teams with multiple Dragon-types, as it can usually win 1-on-1's against them if it can outspeed.
A great Pokemon to have in the back to clean up late game is Kingambit. Its hefty bulk makes it very difficult to KO. Sucker Punch is very powerful late-game as it lets you pick up knock outs on low HP Pokemon.
Garchomp Tera Type: |
Gholdengo Tera Type: |
Pawmot Tera Type: |
Cyclizar Tera Type: |
Garchomp can safely go for Earthquakes while Gholdengo Terastallizes into Flying. It can also increase the damage of its Ground-type moves by Terastallizing into Ground.
Additionally, Pawmot can repeatedly use Double Shock if it Terastallizes into Electric. Cyclizar can boost Overheat's damage output by Terastallizing into Fire.
Garchomp Tera Type: |
Gholdengo Tera Type: |
Cyclizar Tera Type: |
Kingambit Tera Type: |
Garchomp's 4x Ice-type weakness can be reduce to 2x, while also gaining addition Tera STAB on its Ground Type moves.
Gholdengo, who will be Terastallized most often, will lose its Ground-type weakness when it Terastallizes.
Kingambit's Ghost Tera can protect it from Normal and Fighting-type moves. This is great for Hariyama + Farigiraf matchups where Hariyama will attempt to use Fake Out on it, freeing up Kingambit to Kowtow Cleave into Farigiraf.
Cyclizar will rarely Terastallize, but Terastallizing can help it remove its many weaknesses.
Hariyama |
Armarouge |
Garganacl |
Pelipper |
Some Pokemon may carry Wide Guard, which may hinder a lot of the team's offense and cost you the game. Identifying and predicting which Pokemon carry Wide Guard and knocking them out with single-target moves can help open your opponents up for your team's offense.
Armarouge |
Indeedee (Female) |
Farigiraf |
Trick Room is a tricky matchup for this team, as it has minimal ways to stop a strong setup. If knocking out the Trick Room setter with Kingambit fails, timely Protects and strategic switches are your best lines of play.
Murkrow, although it has Taunt, is not always a great option to use against Trick Room teams, as they usually come prepared for Taunt.
Gholdengo + Kingambit is typically a solid choice, but be open to using other leads depending on what you're up against.
