Season 12 of Ranked Battle in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV) has begun and will run until November 30, 2023. Season 12 will continue to use the Regulation E Ruleset which will be in place until January 2nd, 2024. Regulation E allows the use of all available Pokemon in the base game and the Pokemon available in the Teal Mask DLC barring certain restricted Legendary and Mythical Pokemon. Read on to learn more about Regulation E, the legal and banned Pokemon, and rules.
List of Contents
Pokemon from Part 1 of the DLC: The Teal Mask, are set to join the roster of Pokemon available and will surely make new waves in competitive Singles and Doubles. Pokemon known for their massive bulk like Snorlax and Milotic, as well as the newly introduced Poltchageist, are sure to reward defensive play in the currently hyper offensive meta.
Introduction of older Polemon could open up new or improve upon strategies like the underdog Snow strategies with Alolan Ninetales or access to Magic Guard with Clefable could breathe new life into the current metagame.
The inclusion of Pokemon from Pokemon HOME saw a power creep in both the Singles and Doubles format. Legendaries like the Forces of Nature and Cresselia, as well as Hisuian Pokemon like Ursaluna, Hisuian Goodra, and Enamorus from Pokemon Legends: Arceus have dominated the meta since they were introduced into the scene.
Pokemon like Urshifu and Rillaboom have even dominated the teamlists at the 2023 World Championships.
