Authentic Sinistea Mass Outbreak Shiny Hunting Guide

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet - Shiny Sinistea
Players can increase their chances of getting a shiny Authentic Sinistea (Antique Form) through outbreaks in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV). Read on to learn how to get a shiny Authentic Sinistea via outbreaks, shiny hunting tips, and more!

Authentic Sinistea Outbreak Shiny Hunting Guide

Hunting for Shiny Pokemon during a Mass Outbreak is one of the most reliable ways of catching a Shiny. It also appears that when there is an Outbreak of a Pokemon of a certain form, all spawns of that outbreak will be of the same form.

Putting these two ideas together, we can successfully hunt for a Shiny Authentic Sinistea with the following steps:

  1. Have an Authentic Sinistea Outbreak on Your Map
  2. Increase Shiny Odds by Clearing 60 Spawns
  3. Reroll the Spawns Until a Shiny Appears

Have an Authentic Sinistea Outbreak on Your Map

The first step is to make sure you have an Authentic Sinistea Outbreak on your map. A Sinistea Outbreak will either spawn all Antique Sinistea or all Phony Sinistea.

It's good to note that if you've never encountered an Authentic Sinistea before, the Outbreak will show up as a "?" on your map even if you have encountered Phony Sinistea before.

Authentic Sinistea Only Spawn Near Alfornada

Sinistea Habitats
Antique Form Phony Form

Antique Sinistea can only be found near the Alfornada area. If you find a Sinistea Outbreak in a different area, you can be sure that it's a Phony Sinistea Outbreak. However, Phony Sinistea can also spawn near Alfornada, so it's best to check if the Sinistea in your Outbreak are authentic or not.

If you find a Sinistea Outbreak on your map near Alfornada, go to it, and try to look for a mark of authenticity on the underside of one of the Sinistea. You can also catch one and see if it registers as Phony Form or Antique Form.

How to Find Authentic Sinistea

Reroll Outbreaks by Adjusting System Time

While you could just naturally wait for a Sinistea Outbreak to appear on your map by checking daily, you can also force the game to reroll your outbreaks by adjusting your Switch's system time.

Without closing out of the game, access your Switch's Settings and turn off the setting that automatically adjusts your system date and time. Tweak the time and roll it back by a minute, then re-enter your game. Checking your map should reveal that the Mass Outbreaks for the map have changed.

Increase Sinistea Outbreak Odds by Eating an Encounter Power Sandwich

Eating an Encounter Power: Ghost Lv. 2 sandwich will increase the odds of a Sinistea Outbreak spawning. If you have a lot of Herba Mystica to spare, you can use the Sparkling Power: Ghost Lv.3 sandwich recipes to also get Encounter Power: Ghost Lv.3.

Increase Shiny Odds by Clearing 60 Spawns

Conditions Base Odds Shiny Charm Sparkling Power Sandwich Lv. 3 Shiny Charm

60 or more cleared 1/1365 1/819 1/683 1/512

As you defeat or catch more of the same Pokemon in a Mass Outbreak, the odds of finding a Shiny Pokemon among them increases. Defeating them via Let's Go also counts.

From the base odds of a shiny in every 4096 Pokemon, defeating at least 30 from the outbreak improves the odds by half (1 in 2048). By defeating at least 60 you improve the odds further to be 1 in 1365.

These are Sparkling Power Lv. 3 Recipes that we recommend for hunting Shiny Sinistea

Make use of items like the Shiny Charm or a Sparkling Power Sandwich to further increase your odds of finding a Shiny Pokemon. Using both items is the best method, as it improves your odds of finding a Shiny Pokemon further from 1 in 1365 to 1 in 512!

Reroll the Spawns Until a Shiny Appears

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet - Regular and Shiny Sinistea

Once you've defeated or caught at least 60 of the target spawns, we recommend to stop clearing them, since clearing a large excess beyond the initial 60 might cause the outbreak to end.

Instead focus on rerolling the spawns. You can do this by running around the area as Pokemon further from you despawn, and you spawn more near you. Alternatively, you can set up a picnic to clear the spawns, then exit out of the picnic to have more spawn in.

Shiny Sinistea may be a bit difficult to notice since it's small and can blend in amongst the flowers in the grass, but the color is distinct from regular Sinistea. The cup of Shiny Sinistea is pink in color with a slight purple undertone, whereas regular Sinistea is light blue.

Shiny Sinistea Catching Tips

Hopefully, after following the steps above, you've spotted Shiny Sinistea. Great! Here are a few tips before you start the encounter.

  1. Save Before the Encounter
  2. Start the Encounter with a Back-Strike
  3. Lower its HP
  4. Consider a Matching Poke Ball

Save Before The Encounter

Before anything else, save your game! You're probably really excited to grab the Shiny Sinistea right away, but its better to be safe than sorry.

Doing a manual save is a good safety precaution for anything that might go wrong. It'll save you from any potential agony from the encounter despawning, game crashes, running out of Poke Balls, or accidental KOs.

Start the Encounter with a Back-Strike

Instead of running up to Shiny Sinistea to start the encounter, consider sneaking up behind it, then throw your Poke Ball with ZR to catch it by surprise. Starting the Encounter with this back-strike gives you initiative in the form of a free turn where Shiny Sinistea will be too stunned to react.

Lower Shiny Sinistea's HP

Best Catcher Pokemon
Hisuian Decidueye ImageHisuian Decidueye ・Is able to use False Swipe against Ghost-Types thanks to Scrappy
・Can use Taunt to prevent the use of Memento.

As a Ghost-type, Sinistea is normally immune to False Swipe. However when used with Hisuian Decidueye's Scrappy, this can be a safe way to bring the target to Red HP.

If you don't have access to Hisuian Decidueye, it may be better to attack with low power, resisted moves to carefully deal damage.

Best Ball to Catch Shiny Sinistea In

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV) - Heal BallHeal Ball Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV) - Luxury BallLuxury Ball Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV) - Dream BallDream Ball

While you could catch Shiny Sinistea in any Poke Ball you prefer, there's a pretty fun tradition of selecting a Poke Ball that thematically matches the Shiny Pokemon you'll catch.

A Heal Ball perfectly matches Shiny Sinitea's color palette. If you want to splurge, you can also use a Dream Ball, though this item is much harder to obtain.

The Luxury Ball is also a good pick as tea sets can be seen as quite fancy and luxurious.

Congratulations on catching Shiny Sinistea! If you've followed along with this guide, you should now have a Shiny Authentic Sinistea. You'll need a Chipped Pot to evolve it into Shiny Polteageist.

In case you settled for a Phony one, they'll still look similar, but you'll need a Cracked Pot instead. Both forms of Shiny Polteageist retain the pink coloring on their teapots that Shiny Sinistea has on its teacup.

The color difference between the Shiny and non-Shiny forms lie in their teacups. Shiny Sinistea has a pink-colored teacup while regular Sinistea has a blue teacup.

As you sneak around Antique Sinistea during Mass Outbreaks, be sure to take a good look at each Sinistea's body so as not to miss a shiny should one spawn! Sinistea is a very small Pokemon so they may be harder to identify.
