Heatran's incredibly high Special Attack stat paired with Steel Beam allows Heatran to OHKO the Raid Boss through the help of Steely Spirit Perrserkers.
It doesn't matter what Tera Type you give Heatran as this build will finish off the Raid Boss with one hit. We can recommend getting Heatran with a Steel Tera Type if you want to use Heatran for solo raids against Steel-weak Pokemon. As a Special Attacker, Modest nature would be best.
Best Tera Types: Best Pokemon to Terastallize
Tera Raid EV spreads should lean towards increasing the Pokemon's HP and Sp.Atk stats. Max out these EVs, while adding the remaining EVs into Special Defense. Equip the Pokemon with Choice Specs to get the biggest boost for Steel Beam.

At the start of the raid, all three Perrserkers should use Fake Tears to lower the Raid Boss's Sp. Def stat by 6 stages.
Once all the Fake Tears animations are finished, Heatran should then use Steel Beam, which should deal enough damage to OHKO the Raid Boss.

|

Steel Beam (x3 Steely Spirit, Choice Specs) 10,130 ~ 11,918 (116 ~ 136.5%) |
Using this strategy it should only take one turn to take down Steel-weak 7-Star Raid Bosses.

Shell Bell |
Heatran stands out among multiple Steel-types due to it being immune to Fire-type moves due to its ability, Flash Fire, making it an amazing pick for Raids where the Pokemon is normally a Fire-type! With access to Metal Sound and Flash Cannon, it can dish out a good amount of damage due to its amazing Special Attack stat while also resisting most attacks.
We also recommend getting a Heatran with a Steel Tera Type as it is resistant to ten types. As a special attacker, a Modest nature would be best.
Tera Raid EV spreads should lean towards increasing the Pokemon's HP and Sp.Atk stats. Max out these EVs, while adding the remaining EVs into Special Defense. Equip the Pokemon with Shell Bell to regain HP when using damaging moves.
Heatran Tera Raid Turn-by-Turn Counter Strategy | |
---|---|
Turns 1-3 | Use Metal Sound to shred the Tera Raid boss' Sp.Def |
Low HP Turns | Use Flash Cannon to build your Tera Orb charge and also heal up with your Shell Bell. |
Optional | Use Taunt to prevent the Raid Boss from using Status Moves. You can also use Use the cheer Go All Out! to boost your damage further. |
Turns 5+ | Terastallize and use Flash Cannon to beat the Tera Raid Boss. If their HP is low enough, you can opt to use Steel Beam instead. |
Start the raid by using Metal Sound to reduce the opponent's special defense, and Taunt to prevent the Raid Boss from using Status Moves. Try not to get too greedy as the opponent may reset stats.
Heatran's main attacking move for this will be Flash Cannon, use this move to build your Tera Orb charge while also healing yourself with you Shell Bell. After terastallizing you can use Steel Beam as a powerful attack to finish off the raid boss.
Damage Dealt by Heatran |
|
---|---|
Flash Cannon (Steel Tera) 1264 ~ 1488 (14.4 ~ 17%) |
|
Steel Beam (Steel Tera) 2204 ~ 2596 (25.2 - 29.7% [50% recoil damage]) |
Using this strategy it should take approximately 13~16 turns to take out 7-Star Raid Bosses. More turns may be required, depending on when the Raid Boss will put up its shield and reset stat changes.
