Summary

Pokeball IconCan set up rain with Rain Dance to weaken the Raid Boss' Fire-type attacks.

Pokeball IconWhile in rain, Goodra cannot be burned and Weather Ball deals double, super-effective damage.

Pokeball IconCan lower the Raid Boss's Sp. Def with Acid Spray.

The best ability for this Goodra build is Hydration in order to fully take advantage of the rain. Hydration can heal any status condition inflicted on Goodra while it is raining, preventing any burns that the Raid Boss may inflict from sticking.

Goodra further takes advantage of the rain with Weather Ball. This move doubles its base power when there is a weather condition active. It also changes its type depending on the weather and turns into a Water-type move while in rain.

Take note that Weather Ball is a TM exclusive to the Teal Mask DLC. Those without access to this move can use Surf instead as their strong Water-type move.

Best Tera Type

We also recommend getting a Goodra with a Water Tera Type to boost the damage output of a Water-type Weather Ball in the rain. As a Special Attacker, a Modest nature would be best.
Best Tera Types: Best Pokemon to Terastallize

EV Spread Explanation

Tera Raid EV spreads for this 7-star the Raid Boss counter should lean towards Special bulk and offense. Max out your Sp. Atk and Sp. Def EVs, while adding the remaining EVs into HP. Give it a Shell Bell, so that Goodra can heal up whenever it does damage.

Tera Raid Strategy

Goodra Tera Raid Turn-by-Turn Counter Strategy
Turn 1 Use Rain Dance to set up the rain.
Turns 2~5 Use Acid Spray to lower the Raid Boss's Sp. Def. Note if the Raid Boss resets its stat drops, so you will need to use Acid Spray one more time.
Turns 6+ Terastallize and use Weather Ball. Set up the rain again once it disappears.
Low HP Turns Use Life Dew or do a Heal Cheer to regain HP.

If you don't have a teammate with the Drizzle ability, set up your own rain using Rain Dance.

Reduce the Raid Boss's Special Defense using Acid Spray until it's at -6. It will reset its stats after one Acid Spray, so make sure to use it an extra time and check that it is at -6 Sp. Def before Terastallizing.

Once you are able to, Terastallize into the Water Type. Use Weather Ball until the Raid Boss is defeated, but make sure to only use it when it's raining. Set up the rain again using Rain Dance once the rain fades.

Use Life Dew if either you or your allies are low on HP. Alternatively, you can use a Heal Cheer if you want more immediate healing.

This Goodra Tera Raid Build is an effective counter to Fire, Ground and Rock Type Tera Raid Bosses. If the Tera Raid Boss is usually an Ice or Fairy Type outside of Terastallization, perhaps consider a different build, as Goodra will be weak to these Types as a Water-Type attacker.

How to Make Best Goodra Tera Raid Build

How to Make Best Goodra Tera Raid Build

Catch Sliggoo at Casseroya Lake and Evolve It

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet - Casseroya Lake

To get Goodra, you need to catch a Sliggoo from Casseroya Lake and evolve it.

Make sure to bring a Pokemon that has False Swipe and can inflict a status effect to make it easier to catch.

Sliggoo can evolve into Goodra upon reaching level 50, but only if it's raining or foggy in the overworld. Unfortunately, you can't control the overworld weather. Make sure you have Sliggoo on hand as you explore so you can be ready to evolve it once you do encounter rain or fog.

Give Goodra Life Dew from Hatenna as an Egg Move

1

2
Buy a Mirror Herb at Delibird Presents in Cascarrafa. The item costs ₽30,000 so make sure you have enough money.
3
Remove everyone from your party except for Hatenna and Goodra. There should only be two Pokemon in your party.
4
Delete one of Goodra's moves, then let it hold the Mirror Herb.
5
Have a picnic with Goodra and Hatenna. Wait for a few minutes, then pack up.

Check Goodra's summary to see that it now has Life Dew!
