Sucker Punch and Extreme Speed are some of the Priority Moves in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV). Read on to learn more about these moves and their stats.

What Is Priority?

Determines if a Move Always Goes First or Last

Priority is a property of certain moves that causes them to always move faster (increased priority) or slower (decreased priority) than other moves.

Increased Priority moves have been an instrumental part of competitive Pokemon as they allow you to gain an advantage in tempo over your opponent.

Being able to attack first with moves like Fake Out automatically puts you at an advantage, especially in Doubles.

Speed Stat Tiebreaker

If two moves of the same priority level are used by two players, the faster Pokemon will always move first. The same mechanics apply to moves with decreased priority, however the slower Pokemon will go last.

Trick Room Doesn't Change Priority

Even under the effects of Trick Room, the priority of these moves will still be followed. Meaning moves like Extreme Speed will still go first under its effect.
