Moveset Stealth Rock

Knock Off

Tinkaton is a great Stealth Rock user due to its great defensive typing, and with enough defensive investment, it can tshrug off unboosted attacks and stay on the field to support its teammates.

Thunder Wave and Encore are its main support moves and, thanks to its Mold Breaker Ability, bypasses Gholdengo and Garganacl's Good as Gold and Purifying Salt Abilities respectively.

Knock Off is its last move and allows it to provide additional team utility by removing the target's held item. This allows Tinkaton to check opposing defensive Pokemon, particularly ones that are reliant on held items like Sitrus Berry or Leftovers.

Other Viable Moves

Gigaton Hammer An alternative to Thunder Wave that allows Tinkaton to check opposing Fairy-types.

Build Name Recommendation
Bulky Doubles Support ★★★★★

Bulky Doubles Support & Best Build

Ability Mold Breaker
Tera Type Pokemon Steel Type Icon
Held Item Sitrus Berry
Moveset Fake Out
Helping Hand
Gigaton Hammer
Thunder Wave

Tinkaton can function as a great support Pokemon in Doubles thanks to its great defensive typing and access to many support moves. Fake Out lets it scout the opposing team and break Focus Sash, while Helping Hand boosts the power of its ally's move by 50%.

Gigaton Hammer is its main STAB and, even with no Attack investment, can still 2HKO 12 Def Relaxed Garganacl and 252 HP bulky Sylveon!

Thunder Wave is its last move and, thanks to its Mold Breaker Ability, bypasses Garganacl's Purifying Salt Ability and inflict it with paralysis.

Steel Tera typing is a good option for this build to further boost the power of Gigaton Hammer and make it difficult to switch into despite being a defensive Pokemon.

Other Viable Moves

Play Rough Play Rough can replace Fake Out if you want Tinkaton to have a secondary STAB move to hit Dragon, Dark, and Fighting-types.
Knock Off Another great utility move that can replace Fake Out and allows Tinkaton to remove recovery moves from opposing support Pokemon.

How to Use Tinkaton Effectively

Use Gigaton Hammer

Gigaton Hammer is a move that's unique to Tinkaton's kit. With Mold Breaker, this lets Tinkaton get past an opponent's defenses even with minimal Attack investment.

Use As A Defensive Switch In

While Tinkaton can be a solid lead if built that way, Tinkaton can also switch in early to mid game and set up Stealth Rock. It has excellent typing and plenty of resistances, which makes for a great switch in defensively!

How to Build a Team with Tinkaton

Tinkaton is best teamed up with strong Pokemon who can break through defensive Pokemon. Even with Gigaton Hammer, Tinkaton may not always be able to break highly defensive Pokemon, so teammates who excel at this task are good to have in your team. Fire and Ground-types may also prove difficult for Tinkaton as they will usually outspeed and knock it out.

Counters for Tinkaton

Bulky Water types or faster Fire Pokemon can scare Tinkaton off. Consider switching out when an opponent sends these Pokemon out.
