Post Game Content: What to Do After the Story

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet has plenty of Post Game Content that players can explore after beating the Main Story! Read on to learn more about what these are and what you can do after beating the game!

Best Order to Complete the Post Game

Pokedex Completion	Paradox Pokemon and Four Treasures of Ruin

Players are faced with a variety of choices after the completion of the game, and it can be difficult to decide what to approach first. The answer depends on what you are looking to focus on most as a long-term player.

For those who want to try competitive battling and start training their Pokemon as fast as possible, you'll want to finish the Gym Leader Rematches and the Academy Ace Tournament, which will unlock the 6-Star Raids. This will open up your access to Ability Patches, as well as EXP Candy XL and Tera Shards needed to build Pokemon up for competitive play.

Shiny hunters will want to head for the 6-Star Raids as well, as these grant access to Herba Mystica, the ingredient needed to make the Shiny Sandwiches to maximize your shiny spawns. Note that Pokedex Completion is also important when aiming for the Shiny Charm, though not essential.

Those who are mostly interested in completing the Pokedex can safely skip the Raids at the start, and can instead focus on catching all the Paradox Pokemon, Four Treasures of Ruin, and farming Gimmighoul Coins to get Gholdengo.

Koraidon and Miraidon Battle Form Unlocked

Selecting Koraidon or Miraidon from the menu will allow you to add it to your party if there is a vacant slot. This will let you freely use Koraidon or Miraidon in battle.

You can change Koraidon or Miraidon back and forth between Battle Form and Ride Form this way.

Check IVs with the Judge Function

After clearing the game, talking to the receptionist at any Pokemon Center will unlock the Judge Function.

The Judge Function will let you see your Pokemon's Individual Values or IVs, which can be done by pressing the + button while in your Box.

Get the Master Ball

After completing the Main Story of the game, Director Clavell will ask you to meet in his office. In there, you'll be able to get the Master Ball.

In the same scene, you'll be prompted by Nemona and Geeta to rematch with Gym Leaders, which we'll cover next.

After beating the Academy Ace Tournament and completing 8-10 4-Star or higher Tera Raids offline or online from another hosting player, you will be able to challenge 6-Star Tera Raids.

These Tera Raids drop rare items such as Ability Patches, as well as Herba Mystica to create Shiny Sandwiches, improving your Shiny Hunting odds.

Join Time Limited Tera Raid Events

Other than searching for Overworld Tera Raids, special Tera Raid events are also hosted in game! Recently, it was announced that a Tyranitar and Salamence Tera Raid Event will commence on December 8!

Tera Raids like these are also your chance to get some rare Pokemon that are aren't available in the overworld. The previous Tera Event featured a Tera Charizard, which you could get from the last Tera Raid event of Scarlet and Violet.

Paradox Pokemon not present on your first visit to Area Zero in the Great Crater of Paldea will start appearing after clearing the game. Paradox Pokemon have great stats, so be sure to catch them and use them in battle!

Since Past and Future Paradox Pokemon are Version Exclusives, you will have to trade with other people to complete them.

How to Get All Paradox Pokemon

Catch your Second Koraidon/Miraidon (and Trade It)

After clearing the game, going behind the building where the last battle takes place in Area Zero will allow you to encounter another legendary Pokemon.

Do note that the second legendary mentioned here is not the legendary from the opposite version of the game. It will be another Koraidon if you are playing Pokemon Scarlet, and another Miraidon if you are playing Pokemon Violet.

That said, most players with the opposite version will want the box legendary from the other, so this second legendary is great for trading to get both box legendaries in your own game.

Catch the Four Treasures of Ruin (Sub-Legendaries)

Although technically available before the post-game, collecting these four sub-legendaries is one of the most important things to do after completing the main story.

The Four Treasures of Ruin are Pokemon that can be encountered after pulling out stakes scattered across the map. Pulling out a stake will cause a corresponding Treasure of Ruin to appear in its shrine.

Also not technically post-game, but still important! When you interact or battle with Gimmighoul in the wild, the Gimmighoul will drop coins, which you can collect. Collect enough of these coins to evolve Gimmighoul into Gholdengo, a powerful Pokemon for competitive play.

If you want to catch more Shiny Pokemon, then this item is for you. Having this raises your chances to 1 out of 1365. It also works great when you use with sandwiches with Sparkling and Encounter power, you'd be able to find shinies better.

Using the game's Auto Battle function by pressing the R button can also help identify which are the shiny ones, as they tend to avoid them in auto battles.

Aside from gym leader matches, you can also have a rematch with Team Star bosses at their bases. Their Pokemon will be at least Lv. 65 so try to do this after catching all the Legendary Pokemon and the Paradox Pokemon to make sure you Pokemon are at least that level.

You can only battle each of them once a day so it isn't recommended for grinding levels.

Finish the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Epilogue

Completing the Pokedex is one of the main components of 100% completion. Completing the Paldea Pokedex will earn you a reward so do your best to complete it!

Another part of 100% completing the game, is completing all of the Technical Machines. Collecting all of them will also register their recipes, so this is a good thing to complete if you want to teach your Pokemon moves!

There are plenty of Sandwich recipes that you can collect too! The number of Sandwich recipes you've collected appear on your profile so do your best to collect all of them and show them off to your friends.

Once you've completed the Academy Ace Tournament and unlocked the 6-Star Raid Battles, you can farm for Herba Mystica - the most important ingredient for the highly coveted Sparkling Power Sandwich.

Collecting Character Customization Items is another thing you can do after beating the game. While there is no advantage to collecting them all, you can show off your character's personality by customizing it to your liking!

Level Ball	Effect A Poke Ball that makes it easier to catch Pokemon that have lower levels compared to your own. If the user's level is greater than the opponent's level then the catch rate is 2x.
