Best Pokemon Tier List Criteria

Only Includes Pokemon Legal for Ranked Battles

This Tier List only contains Pokemon that are legal for Regulation F Ranked Battles, so powerful Stellar Tera users like Arceus and Terapagos are not included.

Criteria for Tier Placings

The following are the criteria to be met when ranking the best Sellar Tera Pokemon.

Tier Criteria
SS Tier SS Tier Pokemon have great base stats, a wide movepool, strong defensive typing, and are easy to use. These Pokemon are often setup sweepers that have an easy time setting up with their boosting moves.
S Tier S Tier Pokemon are generally close in power to those in the SS Tier but are worse in one or two categories like lower stats or more defensive weaknesses.
A Tier A Tier Pokemon are often strong options but are usually outclassed by Pokemon in the SS and S Tier. These Pokemon also often have great type matchups against SS and S Tier Pokemon.
B Tier B Tier Pokemon are often versatile and have effective builds, but there are generally better options in the higher tiers or they would rather use a different offensive Tera Type.
C Tier C Tier Pokemon offer good moves and stats but are often locked in specialized builds or would rather have a different Tera Type. These Pokemon have specific niches in the metagame and are outclassed by Pokemon in the higher tiers.

Good Balance Between Offense and Defense

Since the Stellar Tera Type doesn't change the Pokemon's defensive typing, it is recommended to only give a Pokemon the Stellar Tera Type if they already have a strong defensive typing so that they aren't prone to getting easily OHKO'd

Ability to Maximize Stellar Tera's Damage Boosts

When Terastallized into the Stellar Tera Type, it will only grant the damage boost to a move the first time that move's type is used in battle.

If a Pokemon uses multiple moves of the same type, then it would be better to give that Pokemon a Tera Type that boosts those moves rather than a Stellar Tera Type.

Skewed Towards Singles Rather Than Doubles

Pokemon participating in Doubles Battles would prefer more defensive Teras rather than the offensive Stellar Tera, so this list favours Pokemon that are stronger in Singles Battles rather than Doubles.

How the Stellar Tera Type Works

Offensive Properties
Pokeball Icon Boost the damage of an attack's type once per battle.
Pokeball Icon Tera Blast becomes a 100 BP move that does super-effective damage to Terastallized Pokemon, but it will also reduce the user's Atk and Sp. Atk by one stage.
Defensive Properties
Pokeball Icon The user retains their defensive typing before Terastallization.
