If you have issues with your current save file, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV) has a backup data feature that allows you to roll back to a previous save. Read on to learn how to backup and restore your save data!

Save Data Is Automatically Backed Up

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Save Data is Automatically Backed Up
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet automatically backs up your save data at certain intervals while you progress through the game, including each time you use the Pokemon Center.

How to Recover Backup Data

1	Navigate to the title screen and press Up, X, and B at the same time. Doing this will open up the Backup Data menu.
2	In the Backup Data menu, select "Start from backup data" to load the currently saved backup data.
3	Once in-game, open the Main Menu and select Save to overwrite your latest save data with the current backup data.

Overwritten Save Data Can't Be Recovered

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Overwritten Save Data Can
Note that saving in-game after recovering your backup data will overwrite your latest save data. Be mindful of this in case your latest save data has more progress than your backup data.

Only the Latest Backup Data Can Be Restored

The game only keeps the latest save data backup, so it isn't possible to restore any previous backups that the game recorded before that point.
