Cloud Nine Weather effects are negated while the user is on the field.
Drizzle The user changes the weather to Rain for five turns.
Drought The user changes the weather to Harsh Sunlight for five turns.
Orichalcum Pulse The user changes the weather to Harsh Sunlight for five turns, and boosts its Attack stat by 30% while said weather is active.
Sand Spit The user creates a Sandstorm whenever it gets hit by an attack.
Sand Stream The user creates a Sandstorm that lasts for 5 turns when it enters the battlefield.
Snow Warning The user creates a Snowstorm that lasts for 5 turns after being sent out in battle.

Effects of Harsh Sunlight In-Battle

Harsh Sunlight's Effects
・Increases damage of Fire-type moves by 50%
・Decreases damage of Water-type moves by 50%
・Changes Weather Ball into a Fire-type move and doubles its power
・Activates Protosynthesis
・Removes charge time of Solar Beam and Solar Blade
・Lowers accuracy of Thunder and Hurricane
・Prevents Pokemon from being frozen

List of Abilities Affected by Harsh Sunlight

Ability Effect
Chlorophyll Increases the user's Speed stat under sunshine.
Drought The user changes the weather to Harsh Sunlight for five turns.
Dry Skin Restores the user's HP in rain or when hit by Water-type moves. Reduces the user's HP in sunshine and increases the damage received from Fire-type moves.
Harvest Has a 50% chance to restore a Berry after consumption, in Sunny weather this chance increases to 100%.
Leaf Guard The user prevents status conditions under sunny weather.
Orichalcum Pulse The user changes the weather to Harsh Sunlight for five turns, and boosts its Attack stat by 30% while said weather is active.
Protosynthesis If Harsh Sunlight is active or if it's holding Booster Energy, the Pokemon's highest stat is boosted by 30% if the stat is Attack, Defense, Special Attack, or Special Defense or 50% if the stat is Speed.
Solar Power Increases the user's Special Attack by 50% during Harsh Sunlight but HP decreases by 12.5% of its max HP at the end of every turn.

Growth Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Normal Type Moves Increases the user's Attack and Special Attack by one stage. Increases the stats by two stages when used during Harsh Sunlight.
Hurricane Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Flying Type Moves Has a 30% chance to confuse the opponent. Also damages opponents using Fly, Bounce, or Sky Drop. This move has increased accuracy during Rain, but has decreased accuracy during Harsh Sunlight.
Moonlight Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Fairy Type Moves Restores 50% of the user's Max HP when no weather is in play. Restores 66.6% Max HP if Sunny Day is active. Restores 25% Max HP if Rain Dance, Snowstorm, or Sandstorm is active.
Morning Sun Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Normal Type Moves Restores 50% of the user's Max HP when no weather is in play. Restores 66.6% Max HP if Sunny Day is active. Restores 25% Max HP if Rain Dance, Snowstorm, or Sandstorm is active.
Solar Beam Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Grass Type Moves The user charges in the first turn and attacks in the next turn instead. If Sunny Day is active, the charge and attack happens in the same turn.

Weather Ball Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - Normal Type Moves This attack's type and power depends on the weather in the battlefield.

Rain

Effects of Rain In-Battle

Rain's Effects
・Increases damage of Water-type moves by 50%
・Decreases damage of Fire-type moves by 50%
・Changes Weather Ball into a Water-type move and doubles its power
・Ensures Thunder and Hurricane will hit

Rain Dish The user recovers 6.25% HP during Heavy Rain at the end of each turn.
Swift Swim Doubles the Speed of the user in rain.

・Boosts the Special Defense stat of Rock-type Pokemon by 50%
・Changes Weather Ball into a Rock-type move and doubles its power

Overcoat Protects the user from the effects of Weather and Powder Moves.
Sand Force Increases the damage of the user's Ground-type, Rock-type, and Steel-type moves by 30% during a Sandstorm and the user takes no damage from the Sandstorm.
Sand Rush The user's Speed is doubled during a Sandstorm.
Sand Spit The user creates a Sandstorm whenever it gets hit by an attack.

Ice Face The user has a protective barrier against Physical Attacks once, Confusion can also break the barrier. The barrier is restored during a Snowstorm.
Overcoat Protects the user from the effects of Weather and Powder Moves.
Slush Rush Doubles the user's Speed in a Snowstorm.
Snow Cloak Increases the user's Evasion by one stage during a Snowstorm.
Snow Warning The user creates a Snowstorm that lasts for 5 turns after being sent out in battle.

Effects of Weather Outside of Battle

Weather Effect
Clear ・Chance of shooting stars to appear during nighttime
Rain ・Allows Sliggoo to evolve into Goodra
・Prevents setting up Picnics
Snow ・Possibility of Diamond Dust to appear randomly

Weather cannot be controlled outside of battle. There are usually visual indicators whether or not certain weather is present in a specific area and will carry on if you battle a wild Pokemon or fight a Trainer.

There are some Pokemon that will only appear in specific types of weather, so always check the nearby wild areas for any unique Pokemon that might appear!

How to Change the Weather

Reset the Game

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV) - Save and Close the Game

You can force the weather to change by resetting the game and opening it again. This can change the weather to a different one once you reopen the game.

This method can be used to change a snowy weather to Diamond Dust, a special weather phenomenon that occurs randomly at random dates.

Alternatively, you can also change the weather by waiting for time to pass. Weather effects last for around 3-5 minutes, so we recommend exploring the open world or doing other activities while they pass.

System Settings Do Not Affect Weather

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet SV - System Settings Do Not Affect Weather
Unlike previous titles, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's weather mechanics are not dependent on the Nintendo Switch's system timer. Changing any of your device's date and time settings will not affect the in-game weather.
