Very good matchup into important meta threats. Can protect its team from priority moves. Can be built to be defensive. |
Ability | Held Item | |
---|---|---|
Dazzling | Sitrus Berry |
Dazzling is Bruxish's best Ability, as it allows Bruxish to block Priority Moves for itself and its teammates. This is important for protecting its team from Fake Out, Sucker Punch, or Prankster Taunt.
Sitrus Berry gives Bruxish more staying power in a match.
Wave Crash | Psychic Fangs |
Trick Room | Taunt |
Wave Crash is a reliable way for Bruxish to deal damage. This is also useful for activating Sitrus Berry after Bruxish has taken a little bit of damage.
Psychic Fangs is another reliable STAB option, that also has the added benefit of breaking Screens
Trick Room can reverse turn order, which is important for determining which Pokemon can attack first.
Taunt is a great option for denying opposing Pokemon from setting up.

Fairy is the best Tera Type for Bruxish, as it eliminates its weaknesses to Dark and Ghost. It also removes its weaknesses from its Water-typing.
Best Fairy Type Pokemon for Ranked Battle
smallyeevgc's Bruxish is very bulky, with an Impish Nature giving it extra bulk on the physical end.
HP is maximized with 252 EVs, while an even 124 are put into its defensive stats. 4 EVs are put into Attack and Speed, optimizing its EV spread with no wasted EVs.
Aqua Jet | While Bruxish's Dazzling can block Priority moves, Bruxish itself can use Aqua Jet. This is useful for picking off low HP Pokemon, most notably Pokemon surviving on 1 HP from Focus Sash. |

Game8's Competitive Damage Calculator
Bruxish takes resisted damage from both of Rapid-Strike Urshifu's STAB options, and also has an immunity to Tornadus's Prankster Taunt. It takes resisted damage from Heatran's Heat Wave and Flash Cannon, but not Grass Tera Blast.
Its Dazzling Ability can also protect your team from Dragonite's Extreme Speed and Chien-Pao's Sucker Punch.
Access to Taunt and Trick Room means that Bruxish can often decide when Trick Room will go up, giving you the option to choose whether it goes up or not.
Bruxish is best used in teams with varying speed, where Bruxish can have the option of setting up Trick Room or not depending on whether or not you need a speed advantage, or if you already have it.
Support | Support / Physical Attacker |
---|---|
Bruxish | Rillaboom |
Special Attacker | Special Attacker |
Landorus (Incarnate Forme) | Flutter Mane |
Bruxish is great with Rillaboom and Special Attacking Landorus-I, because these two Pokemon have middling Speed, which means that Trick Room can sometimes benefit them. Flutter Mane, a fast Pokemon who does not need Trick Room, can benefit from Bruxish's Dazzling protection, protecting it from Aqua Jet and Sucker Punch.
Double-targeting Bruxish or damaging it with super-effective attacks can often force it out of the active position, or outright knocking it out.
