Electric Tera Shard | Dragon Tera Shard | Steel Tera Shard |
Fire and Steel are two of the most popular offensive tera types for many top tier attackers in the current metagame. Staple Dragon-types like Salamence and Garchomp, in particular, often terastallize into a Fire or Steel-type to remove their weakness to Fairy-types as well as provide them additional STAB through moves like Iron Head.
Flying also fits most offensive Pokemon like Dragonite and Gyarados, either for Tera Blast or to boost Flying-type moves.
Dark is another fairly popular offensive tera type due to the ubiquity of Gholdengo. Being able to resist its powerful Shadow Ball and retaliate with boosted Dark-type moves or Dark-type Tera Blast can give your team an edge in competitive play!
For defensive Pokemon, Tera types that can provide newfound resistances or even immunities are valuable in competitive play with the most common being Fairy, which provides resistances to Dark, Fighting, and Bug-types as well as an immunity to Dragon-type moves, and Dark to resist Fighting, Bug, and Fairy moves.
Water and Grass are also great choices for most walls, with Water providing neutral defenses while Grass boasts key resistance sto Ground and Water-type moves. Garganacl, in particular, can run either tera type to remove its weaknesses to Fighting and Ground-types to better wall opposing Pokemon!
Dragon is also a viable Tera type solely to counter three of Ogerpon's forms.

Many offensive raid powerhouses often utilize their own typing to get an additional STAB boost, but changing Tera types can be useful in several situations. Changing a Pokemon's Tera type to Psychic to gain STAB on Stored Power has proved to be an effective strategy against event raid Pokemon in the past.
Changing a Pokemon's Tera type to match its new type after evolving is also a great way to make use of Tera Shards. Mankey and Charcadet, for example only have Fighting and Fire as their respective natural Tera types, but their evolutions can be useful as Ghost-type Attackers. Chesnaught and Mewtwo can utilize their Fighting-type moves by changing their Tera types to Fighting.
Conversely, Tera types that change a Pokemon's Tera type to match Weather or Terrain are also valuable. These include Electric, Water, Fire, and Ice. These Tera types allow certain Pokemon to benefit even more with weather or terrain effects, such as Ice Pokemon gaining an additional 30% Defense while under Snow.

Blissey
|
Blissey's low offenses but high HP and Special Defense makes it a great support Pokemon in Tera Raid Battles, using support moves like Helping Hand, Life Dew, and Heal Beal to support its team.
Normal is one of the better typings for a special-oriented support Pokemon since it takes neutral damage to all types except Fighting, which is weak to, and is immune to Ghost which has more high powered special moves.
Since Blissey is a pure Normal-type, it will always have Normal Tera-type when caught in the wild or evolved from Happiny or Chansey. You can also catch Blissey with better IVs compared to wild encounters for Tera Raids.
EVs, IVs, and Natures Explained
Type | Explanation |
---|---|
・Retains Blissey's great neutral defenses to most types. ・Grants immunity to Ghost, which is very common in the current metagame. |
|
・Gives Blissey immunity to Psyshock, which is one of the few Special Moves that can overcome it. | |
・Gives Blissey resistance to Fighting and Fairy, while also giving it immunity to Toxic. |
