Unlike previous Tera Raids, Chien-Pao cannot be caught and can only be defeated for rewards. Instead, players from around the world must make a collaborative effort to defeat it 1,000,000 times during the event duration.
It is recommended to complete the raid via multiplayer as it will count for four entries per raid versus going at it solo!

Chien-Pao Will Use Ruination Turn 1!
If you're planning to do this raid, make sure to be prepared to be hit by Ruination at the start. Meaning before you can even move, you have to start the raid with half your HP, so plan accordingly.
Optional: Look for Intimidate Allies and Eli's Gardevoir
Try to look for NPC Allies with the Ability Intimidate. This can be immensely helpful at the start as they can lower Chien-Pao's Attack so you can safely set-up Belly Drum.
The best allies in this situation would be Arcanine, Staraptor, and Paldean Tauros.
Also try to find Eli's Gardevoir if you want an amazing sustain option. It will use Life Dew more often than not.
Chien-Pao Will Use Haze to Remove Buffs and Debuffs
As annoying as it is, Chien-Pao will spam Haze to remove any of your Buffs and its own Debuffs. Try to use Pokemon that can Taunt at the beginning while you accumulate Metronome Stacks, or use ones that can buff itself naturally like Pokemon with the Stamina Ability!

Besides the standard fare of rewards from 5-Star Tera Raids, Shiny Chien-Pao will be given away via Mystery Gift once it has been defeated 1,000,000 times worldwide without the need for grinding or Soft Resets.
You will also be able to obtain 40 Tera Shards for every 100,000 additional times the Pokemon has been defeated.

Tera Raid Level Depends on Game Progress
The level of raids that appeared on the map is dependent on the player's progress in the game and how many Gym Badges have been earned so far.
Since the raid are 4 and 5-Star Tera Raids, make sure you reach the required game progression to unlock them!

How to Increase Tera Raid Star Level
Connect to the Internet
To join this raid event and spawn these special Tera Raid Crystals, you will need to connect your game to the Internet to update the game data. Once done, event Tera Raid crystals should start appearing on your map!
To connect to the Internet, simply press the X button to open the menu and press the L button to connect to the Internet.
Check the Map for Sparkling Tera Raid Crystals
After connecting to the Internet, unique Tera Raid Crystals will start appearing in the overworld. These are distinct enough from regular Tera Raid Crystals and will sparkle, as seen in the overworld, so you can determine which ones contain the featured Pokemon!

Join an Event Tera Raid
After connecting to the Internet and having your game data updated, you can immediately group up with other players and join Tera Raids through the Tera Raid Battle menu in the Poke Portal screen, which can be accessed from the main menu by pressing the X button.
Event Tera Raids will have show the feature Pokemon's icon displayed in a yellow box, and the Tera Type will be shown on the upper right.
Hosting Event Tera Raids
Alternatively, you can also host Tera Raids once you find a sparkling Tera Raid Crystal in the overworld.
You can either challenge Tera Raids as a group with other players, or you can face them solo.
How to Host Raids Repeatedly for Unlimited Rewards
Event Tera Raids in Yellow Cards
An important note to keep in mind is that event Tera Raids will have yellow event cards, which can be observed from the Tera Raid preparation screen or the Tera Raid Battle Search menu in Poke Portal.
This is useful so you can determine if the Tera Raid you found or will join is an event raid, and not just a regular one!
Nintendo Switch Online Subscription Required for Online Play
Note that you need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to host or join online Tera Raids with other players across the Internet!
How to Redeem the Shiny Chien-Pao Mystery Gift
You can get the shiny Chien-Pao Mystery Gift via the Internet. Remember that Mystery Gifts do not require you to have a Nintendo Switch Online Membership to redeem, so keep on claiming!

| 2 |  Mystery Gifts without a code can be obtained via the Internet. To receive these gifts, select "Poke Portal" in the menu first. |

| 4 |  Next, select "Get via Internet". The game will then connect to the internet and check if there are gifts you can still receive. |
| 5 |  Gifts that are still available for you to receive will be shown on your screen. Choose which of those you'd like to get. |
