Annihilape's Ghost and Fighting dual-typing gave it a 4x resistance to Megahorn. On top of this, Annihilape's signature move Rage Fist increases in base power after being hit by an attack, making it an effective neutral counter to Samurott.
Annihilape's high damage output made it an effective solo counter against the Unrivaled Samurott.
Annihilape Tera Raid Turn-by-Turn Counter Strategy | |
---|---|
Turns 1~2 | Use Screech to lower Samurott's Defense stat by 4 stages. |
Turns 3+ | Use Rage Fist to deal damage, while building Tera Orb charge. |
After Destroying Energy Shield | Terastallize, and use Rage Fist to deal double STAB boosted damage. |
Following our recommended build and strategy, it should only have taken around 7~9 turns to defeat Samurott.

Paldean Tauros' Fire and Fighting dual-typing gave it a 4x resistance to Megahorn. Despite its weakness to Water and Ground type moves, it has great bulk enough to survive critical hits, making it an effective solo counter.
Furthermore, Paldean Tauros' signature move Raging Bull changes type depending on what form Tauros is, making it a super effective counter to Samurott.
Tauros Tera Raid Turn-by-Turn Counter Strategy | |
---|---|
Turn 1 | Use Tail Whip to decrease Samurott's Defense. |
Turn 2 | Bulldoze will lower your speed so just use Tail Whip expecting to get KO'd. |
Turn 3 | Use Sunny Day once Tauros is able to fight again. This will lower Aqua Cutter's power, but still trigger Anger Point. |
Turns 4-6 | Use Raging Bull repeatedly to break its shield and lower its HP. On the 6th turn, Samurott will rid the party of the buff given by Anger Point. |
Turns 7+ | Terastalize Tauros, and then keep using Raging Bull until you win. |
Following our recommended build and strategy, it should only have taken around 8~9 turns to defeat Samurott.

Koraidon's Dragon and Fighting dual-typing gives it resistance to Bug, and Water type moves. It also has resistance to Dark, and takes neutral damage from Ground, making it an all around reliable counter against Samurott.
Due to Flare Blitz' immense recoil damage, this build should only be used Solo, since it will faint often.
Koraidon Tera Raid Turn-by-Turn Counter Strategy | |
---|---|
Turns 1~3 | Use Screech to lower Samurott's Defense by six stages. |
Turn 4 | Use Swords Dance to boost Koraidon's Attack stat once the energy shield is up. |
Turn 5 | Use Flare Blitz to deal Super Effective damage and destroy the Energy shield. |
Turn 6 | Use Screech if Samurott is at -4 Defense. Use Heal Up! otherwise. Do not use Swords Dance yet since Samurott will reset team stat changes once it falls to 65% HP. |
Turns 7~8 | Use Swords Dance to boost Koraidon's Attack stat. |
Turns 9+ | Use Flare Blitz to end the raid. |
Note: Turn 9 Flare Blitz must be done before 50% time to avoid having Samurott reset negative stat changes and extend the battle.
Following our recommended build and strategy, it should only have taken 9~12 turns to defeat Samurott.

Samurott used Focus Energy and Swords Dance to boost its critical hit rate and Attack stat during the raid. For its main moves, it used a Tera Type-boosted Megahorn and Aqua Cutter. It also used Drill Run, Bulldoze, and Night Slash which served as its coverage moves.
It also had Shell Armor, its Hidden Ability in the previous games, which protects it from critical hits.
You were able to get useful rewards for completing the Samurott Tera Raid. These ranged from treasures you could sell to items you could use to train competitively-viable Pokemon.
Furthermore, you could obtain some of these rewards as many times as you can as long as you cleared the Samurott raid!

Conquering this raid gave you the opportunity to catch Samurott itself. It could only be caught once per save file however.
Samurott had its Hidden Ability Shell Armor, max IVs in every stat, and the unique Mightiest Mark which confers it the title of Samurott the Unrivaled.
Like in previous raids, Shiny Samurott did not appear during the raid event.
If you want a Shiny Samurott, you need to breed and hatch for a Shiny Oshawott.

Samurott normally cannot be found in Paldea, making the 7-Star Event Samurott quite the catch, but you have to fight it in a Black Crystal Tera Raid.
These raids are tough, so trainers will have to prepare in advance. It's also recommended to complete the post-game before you participate. Players who are in earlier points of the game can still join via Link Code, but it is highly discouraged since these 7-Star raids will be extremely difficult.
How to Unlock 6-Star Raids and List of Pokemon
Remember that Black Tera Raid symbols on the map do not come in any other color except black. Meanwhile, normal Tera Raid symbols are colored according to the Tera Type of the Pokemon in them.
When you're looking for the Tera Raid with the 7-Star Samurott, keep your eyes peeled for a Black Tera Raid symbol on the map with the Bug-type icon.
Black Crystal Tera Raid Battles
You are able to join Event Raid Dens online. When the event is live, you can use our Tera Raid Board to coordinate a team to take it down!
To participate in the event with other players, you must have a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership, which is bought separately from the game.
Multiplayer Modes: All New Co-Op Adventure and Connectivity Options
Trainers must also make sure they have the latest version of Poke Portal News in their game. This should automatically download if your Switch is connected to the Internet.
1 | Press the X Button and select "Poke Portal." Make sure your Switch is connected to the internet. |

2 | Select "Mystery Gift." |
3 | Select "Check Poke Portal News." |
Samurott's 7-Star Raid is Shiny-locked as it was with previous 7-Star Tera Raid Events.
You can still get a Shiny Samurott if you catch it in the raid, breed and hatch for a Shiny Oshawott and evolve it, although it will not have the Mightiest Mark.

Samurott, during the Tera Raid, will have a Bug Tera Type and not its regular Water typing.
Due to this, Samurott's weakness during the raid will be Fire, Flying, and Rock-type attacks so make sure to attack with those!
Like with previous 7-Star Raids, you can only catch one 7-Star Samurott, although you may still participate in other Samurott raids and get the rewards if you complete it.
Additionally, players who caught the Samurott in Round 1 could not catch Samurott again even if they participated in Round 2.
Once you've caught the Samurott, you can easily breed it to produce Oshawott Eggs. Like other bred Pokemon, they also have a chance to be Shiny!
However, note that these Oshawott will not inherit the Mightiest Mark from the 7-Star Samurott.
Breeding Guide: How to Breed and Get Eggs
The raid Samurott that players encountered had Shell Armor, which is its Hidden Ability. This Ability protects Samurott from critical hits, so it was best to avoid any strategies that involved landing critical hits.
Hisuian Samurott |
---|
Like the previous Decidueye Tera Raid Event, Hisuian Samurott was not available during the raid event.
The raid only featured Unovan Samurott and its Hisuian counterpart did not appear, although it may be available in the near future with an update like with what happened with Hisuian Zorua and Hisuian Zoroark.
