The Elemental Plates are used to change the type of Arceus in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV). Read on for a list of all the Elemental Plates, their uses, their location, and which ones are available in game!
List of Contents
Plates are special held items that can be held by a Pokemon to boost a specific type's move damage. When held by Arceus, these Plates will change its type and the type of its Signature Move, Judgment.
The Plates act as Held Items that can boost moves of the same type as the Plate held by 20%. This works similar to the other Held Items that also boost the Power of a specific type's Moves like the Mystic Water and Charcoal.
Additionally, the Pixie Plate is the only item in the game that can boost the power of Fairy Type moves.
Judgment is the signature move of Arceus. It has the special effect that the move's type will always be the same as the form Arceus is in. For example, while holding the Pixie Plate, Arceus and Judgment will always be Fairy Type.
Judgment will also be affected by the boost given by Terastallizing into a specific type. Therefore, you can change Arceus' Tera Type into the same type as the Plate you want it to hold for a huge boost in Judgment's damage!
Judgment Effect and Pokemon That Learn It
These Plates are available from the special vendor at Porto Marinada Auctions and only appears when you have Arceus in your party or boxes.
If the merchant doesn't sell any items, make sure to change the date on your Switch's system to refresh their inventory.

Blank Plate | Legend Plate |
Arceus Plate | PLA Inscribed Text / Effect |
---|---|
Blank Plate | "Three beings whose power can hold both time and space fixed." A stone tablet imbued with the essence of normalcy. When used on a certain Pokémon, it allows that Pokémon to gain the power of the Normal type. |
The Blank Plate is absent in the game due to it not being needed as Arceus will always revert to a Normal-type when it is not holding any Plate.
In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, the Plates are considered as Key Items due to the lack of the Held Item system. Due to this, the Blank Plate is needed if you wanted to revert Arceus back into its original Type.
Arceus Plate | PLA Inscribed Text / Effect |
---|---|
Legend Plate | "From all creations, over all creations, does the Original One watch over all." A stone tablet imbued with the essence of all creation. When used on a certain Pokémon, it allows that Pokémon to gain the power of every type there is. |
The Legend Plate is absent in the game due to unknown reasons as of yet. It is most likely not in-game due to how it will make Arceus an effective counter to any Pokemon that can Terastallize.
In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, the Plates are considered as Key Items due to the lack of the Held Item system.
