Patch 1.3.1 for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV) was released on May 25, 2023 and will address issues affecting the Japanese and Korean players qualifying for the National Championships and World Championships. Read on to learn when this patch will release and the issues it will address.
List of Contents
Released in June 28, 2023, a new patch update was released for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet to adjust game mechanics in preparation for upcoming live tournaments. The most notable upcoming live tournament is the Pokemon VGC World Championships, Yokohama, held from August 11~13.
1.3.2 Live Tournament Patch Update
Starting May 25, 2023, a new patch update will release for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet to address issues affecting Japanese and Korean players qualifying for the National Championships and World Championships.
Affected players have already received emails addressing the issues encountered during the online competition.
Players affected by the issues are unable to see their current rankings during the online competition, essentially preventing them from tracking their progress to qualify for the National and World Championships.
Players affected by the issues often encounter a bug where they are sometimes matched with the same opponent multiple times in a row.
Additonally, players are unable to exit properly from the Online Competition between matches in the Online Competition lobby. This means players are unable to play the game without hard resetting Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Since this patch was previously announced to fix the issues regarding Online Tournaments, this patch will likely not fix the Tera Raid Event bug that was recently discovered from the Great Tusk and Iron Treads Raids.
A different update to specifically target this issue will likely be released later on, as well as a re-run of the Chesnaught and Paradox Pokemon Raids.
Chesnaught, Paradox Tera Raids, and Pokemon HOME Compatibility Cancelled!
The upcoming patch is set to only address issues relating to the online competition affecting Japanese and Korean Qualifiers.
As the patch is due to address an unintended behavior in the game, it's unlikely that it will bring Pokemon HOME support to the game.
Pokemon HOME Support Release Date
According to the emails, a make up tournament for Japanese and Korean Players will be held on May 28 after the patch is released to give affected Japanese and Korean players a chance to qualify for the National and World Championships.
