Ranked Battle Series 1 in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV) goes from December 1 until January 31, 2023, and allows you to battle against trainers from all over the world in the Battle Stadium. Read on to learn more about Series 1, Season 2, the legal and banned Pokemon, and rules.

Ranked Battles Series 1 for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet launched on December 2, 2022. The Series 1 Regulations and rulesets allows all Pokemon in the Paldea Pokedex for competitive play, but with a few restrictions.
Season 2 began on January 5, 2023 and as with Season 1, disallows the use of Paradox Pokemon, as well as the Four Treasures of Ruin, and Koraidon and Miraidon. Pokemon which are not in the Paldea Dex such as Quagsire, Perrserker, and Greninja, Charizard, Cinderace and their pre-evolutions are also still not legal.

Ranked Battle Series 1 is broken up into two seasons, both following the Series 1 regulations. At the end of each season, all players' rank will be reset, and they will receive rewards based on their performance in the season.
As of the commencement of Season 2 a message displayed at the bottom of the Ranked Battle screen falsely stating that 'Ranked Battles Season 3 is underway'. Despite this message, it is indeed currently Season 2 of Series 1 Ranked Battles.
All Paradox Pokemon are banned from competitive play in Series 1. These include the following Pokemon:

Pokemon in the Paldea Pokedex are available to use for the first season of Ranked Battles, excluding Legendary Pokemon as well as Paradox Pokemon.
Rewards are given out after the season ends and results are announced based on the tier you reached at the end of the Season.
Players need to finish at least one match with a win or loss during the season to be eligible for Season 1 rewards.

Each time you win a ranked battle, you will be rewarded with 1,000 LP. Moving up a Rank within a Tier will earn you 10,000 LP and moving up to the next Ball Tier will earn you 20,000 LP.
