Gengar Trade Location

Evolution Exclusive via Trade in Paldea

Map View World View

Gengar is a Pokemon that cannot be found in the wild and can only be acquired by evolving a Haunter via trading with another trainer.

Levincia Woman Trades Haunter that Evolves into Gengar

Another option to acquire Gengar without having to trade with another player is to look for Blossom, a woman in the middle of Levincia wearing shades and is thinking of Pincurchin. She can be found in the circle bridge in Levincia, and will trade you the only known Haunter in the game that can evolve into Gengar.

The Haunter evolves automatically into Gengar after the trade, and does not have to meet a required level or special conditions in order to do so.

Trade Haunter with Another Player to Get Gengar

Haunter will evolve into Gengar when traded to another player.

To receive your own Gengar, you can send your Haunter to another person, and then ask them to give it back to you after it has evolved.

Cannot Evolve Wild Haunter into Gengar

You cannot evolve a wild Haunter naturally into a Gengar, and there is no Linking Cord in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet that is used for special evolutions.

If you want to get a Gengar fast, trading with other players is the surest and fastest way to do so.

High Speed and high Special Attack stats make Gengar very dangerous on the battlefield if handled well, since you can strike enemies quickly with Shadow Ball and Sludge Bomb, or put them to sleep on the first turn with Hypnosis before hitting them with Dream Eater.

Give Gengar a Modest Nature to boost the power of all its moves, and make sure it's holding a pair of Wise Glasses for another Special Attack buff.

Should You Terastallize Gengar?

Terastallized Pokemon gain a 1.5x damage bonus to moves of their Tera Type, while also removing weaknesses and resistances from their original typings while maintaining those typings' STAB.

Tera Types Explained

Gengar Best Nature

Nature & Stat Changes Explanation
Modest
SpAtk, Atk
Dream Eater

The Modest Nature gives Gengar a boost to its Special Attack stat of 130, giving a more powerful kick to its Special Attack moves. Since his Speed stat is already high, you should be faster than most opponents.
Timid
Speed, Atk
Flash Spectre

If you think you'll come across high-speed opponents, give your Gengar a Timid Nature to boost its Speed at the cost of Attack. Put your opponents to sleep on the first turn with Hypnosis then hit them hard with Dream Eater, or hit them with Sludge Bomb for a chance to Poison them early in the battle.
