Tera Shell is an Ability of Terapagos (Terastal Form) which reduces any damage taken when its health is full in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV). Read to see its effects in or outside of battle and the Pokemon that have access to Tera Shell as their Ability or Hidden Ability.
Tera Shell |
---|
All damage-dealing moves that hit the Pokémon when its HP is full will not be very effective. |
Tera Shell gives Terapagos a defensive boost when it is at full health as it makes any damaging moves not effective and deal reduced damage, regardless of type.
This means that Terapagos can utilize this to be bulky by recovering HP with Rest or hold a Sitrus Berry.
Tera Shell will not make Ghost-type moves hit non-effectively against Terastal Form Terapagos, as it is still a Normal-type Pokemon and will be immune to such moves.
Normal Form Terapagos will be in its Normal Form when it is out of battle, but it will change into its Terastal Form due to Tera Shift whenever it is sent out in battle where it will also get Tera Shell.
This lasts throughout the entire battle, with Terapagos maintaining its Terastal Form and Tera Shell Ability even if you switch it out with another Pokemon in your team.
If Terapagos Terastallizes, it will transform in its Stellar Form and get a new Ability called Teraform Zero.
This also means that it will lose Tera Shell as its Ability, meaning it will take damage normally at full health.
