Special paper lanterns of Ogerpon and Pikachu are set to appear in Aomori's yearly Nebuta Festival! This collaboration is set to commemorate the the release of the Teal Mask DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV). Read on for more information about this event, what it is, and what it could entail for the upcoming DLC.
List of Contents
The event is to be held on August 3 until August 6 of 2023, with the paper lanters being made by the Takenami Nebuta Research Institute.
The Teal Mask offers a new adventure in the Land of Kitakami where your trip seems to coincide with a festival regularly held in the village in Kitakami during this season, so the village is bustling with various street vendors and stalls.
This collaboration makes perfect sense as the DLC's main story revolves around a Festival commemorating the Loyal Three
Kitakami Region - Mossui Town:
Teal Mask DLC Base Town
The real life equivalent of Kitakami in Japan is coincidentally situtated in the middle of three of Tohoku region's Prefectures that hosts the biggest festivals in August.
These three festivals are Aomori's Nebuta Festival, Sendai's Tanabata Festival, and Akita's Kanto Festival. These three festivals are symbolized with different cultural items such as paper streamers, lanterns and other similar items.
This goes in line with the DLC's Kitakami mostly revealing Pokemon from the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh Regions and how the main focus of the DLC is about masks which seem to be integral to the story.
The Teal Mask: DLC Part 1 Release Date and New Pokemon
Held in the Aomori Prefecture in Japan, this festival is know for its beautiful floats parading down the streets while Nebuta dancers surround them whilde dancing and chanting Rassera, Rassera!
Usually held on the early part of August, it is one of Tohoku’s main summer attractions and is an amazing way to spend your summer evening that garners quite the crowd.
