Stone Axe is Kleavor's signature move, and it is also a powerful STAB option. With Sharpness, it is almost as strong as Stone Edge, with the added benefit of setting up Stealth Rock.

X-Scissor is Kleavor's secondary STAB, which gets a Sharpness boost as well.

Night Slash is boosted by Sharpness, and can severely damage Dark-weak Pokemon.

And lastly, Close Combat is a way to damage Steel-types who may otherwise wall Kleavor's other moves.

How to Use Kleavor Effectively

Play Kleavor with Speed Control

Teammates that have means for Speed Control can often help Kleavor contribute offensively longer. Moves like Icy Wind, Tailwind, or Trick Room are often good options to have.

Use Sharpness-Boosted Slicing Attacks

Kleavor has access to a good selection of slicing moves that can get a boost from Sharpness. Pick and choose which best suits Kleavor for your team!

Sharpness Effect and List of Slicing Moves

How to Build a Team with Kleavor

Kleavor appreciates teammates that can help it against Pokemon that wall it or outspeed it. Quick and powerful teammates are good to have, making Kleavor a good Pokemon to slot into offense-oriented teams.

Sample Singles Team

Special Attacker Physical Attacker Special Attacker
Iron Bundle ImageIron Bundle Kleavor ImageKleavor Chi-Yu ImageChi-Yu

Iron Bundle can handily take care of Water-types that may threaten Kleavor using its Freeze-Dry Attack. Chi-Yu, the team's late-game sweeper, can take care of Steel-types for Kleavor.

Kleavor can enjoy the middle position, and enter mid-battle after a teammate has been KOd. This way, it won't be in danger of taking an attack upon switching in.

Sample Doubles Team

Physical Attacker Physical Attacker
Kleavor ImageKleavor Lycanroc (Midday Form) ImageLycanroc (Midday Form)
Physical Attacker Support / Redirection
Tyranitar ImageTyranitar Gastrodon (East Sea) ImageGastrodon (East Sea)

Kleavor and Lycanroc make for solid leads, with either of the two having the option to swap into Tyranitar to give a Special Defense boost to the other. Additionally, Lycanroc gets a Speed boost thanks to Sand Rush. Kleavor in Sandstorm will give it an additional boost to its Special Defense, along with the boost it gets from Assault Vest.

Gastrodon is a solid addition to this team, as it can redirect Water-type Attacks away from its teammates and be a nuisance with Yawn.

Counters for Kleavor

Outspeed Kleavor or Wall with Bulky Water-Types

Kleavor is easy to outspeed, with common threats to it often being faster or having access to priority attacks. Water-types like Dondozo often have enough physical bulk to shrug off Kleavor's offense.
