The 3.0 Update for Pokemon HOME now allows for crtain Pokemon from previous titles to be transfered into Pokemon Scarlet and Violet! You can now obtain Pokemon in a Strange Ball if you transfer a Pokemon caught in Hisui into Pokemon Scarlet and Violet!
The Strange Ball is a unique Poke Ball which first appeared in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl (BDSP) and Legends: Arceus.
A Pokemon's Poke Ball will change into a Strange Ball when it 'travels through time', i.e. when transferred from Legends: Arceus to a modern-era game or vice versa. This happens because Pokemon Legends: Arceus' story takes place in the past where modern Poke Balls have not been fully invented yet.
The Strange Ball does not natively appear in Paldea as it cannot be obtained by standard means, like buying it from the Poke Mart. You need to transfer a Pokemon from Pokemon Legends: Arceus to get a Pokemon encased in a Strange Ball.
Due to the update that allows Pokemon HOME to connect with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you can now obtain Pokemon in Strange Balls by transferring a Pokemon caught in Hisui.

Pokemon who were caught in the craftable Poke Balls in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, will have their Poke Balls changed into a Strange Ball when transferred into Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Some players have encountered a glitch regarding the Walking Wake and Iron Leaves Tera Raid wherein they were able to catch not either Paradox Pokemon but instead a Bad Egg. This happens if they participate and clear the raid event without updating their game to version 1.2.0.
Players who obtained this Bad Egg have spotted that it is encased inside a Strange Ball, which cannot be passed on to any Pokemon in the game at the time of writing, as you need to transfer a Pokemon caught in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
