By aligning a Pokemon's original Type with its Tera Type and using a move of that same Type, you can deal maximum damage. Therefore, if you are unsure of what Tera Type to go with, that is a great starting point for using Tyranitar and Salamence in story playthroughs or Tera Raids.

Dark Tera Type Tyranitar and Flying Tera Type Salamence can only be obtained in Tera Raids or by changing their Tera Type with Tera Shards, so these particular Types are worth getting during this event.

Tyranitar and Salamence appear with various Tera Types during this event, so bring a Pokemon which can deal super effective damage to the Tera Type you're up against. Just remember that their movesets do not change regardless of the Tera Type, so be sure your Pokemon can handle the moveset listed above in the Movesets section.

Best Pokemon to Use for Tyranitar

Tyranitar uses only Physical moves, so Pokemon with high Defense which can handle its powerful attacks are a necessity. It has strong coverage in a variety of types, so most Pokemon will take at least neutral damage from some of its attacks.

3 Star Tera Raids and Above Feature Tyranitar and Salamence With Hidden Ability

The user's Attack is increased by one stage whenever it knocks out another Pokemon.

Tera Raids that are 3 Stars plus sometimes feature Pokemon with their Hidden Ability. If you are facing Salamence and its Intimidate Ability does not activate at the beginning of the battle you will know it instead has its Hidden Ability, Moxie. With Tyranitar on the other hand, if a message appears stating that the Pokemon are too nervous to eat their berries, you will know it has its Hidden Ability, Unnerve.

There is a (Low) Chance of Encountering a Shiny Event Raid

Tyranitar and Salamence can both be shiny, however it is only regular odds, which are quite low. If you would like to get yourself a shiny Salamence or Tyranitar it is better to instead hunt their basic forms, Larvitar and Bagon, by eating sandwiches with Sparkling Power and using the Outbreak Shiny Hunting method.

Event Tera Raid Crystal Map icons are much shinier than regular Dens.

Event Tera Raid Crystal Map icons are sparkling and look much different to regular Tera Raid Crystal icons. If you cannot see any sparkling Raid Crystals in the overworld, try opening the Map app to look for the sparkling icons.

Event Tera Raid Crystals also give off a special sparkling aura which makes them stand out compared to regular Tera Raid Crystals. Try searching for them in the overworld by heading towards the beams of light.

There Are Only 10 Event Raid Crystals Per Day

Only 10 Event Tera Raid Crystals can spawn per in-game day. If you have already cleared all 10 for the day, you can still challenge them by going online and joining another person's Event Tera Raid.

The Color of the Raid Card is Different

The color of Event Tera Raid's Cards are different to usual, with a golden tint. If you see one of these, you should go for it, as these are only around for a limited time.

The Tyranitar and Salamence Event Tera Raids will be from 4~5 Stars. 4 Star Raids are unlocked after you get 7 Gym Badge, while 5 Star Raid Dens are only unlocked after you complete all 3 main stories. Make sure you beat at least 7 Gyms, or better, complete all of the 3 Story modes in preparation for this event.
