Pokemon announced the latest installments to the Pokemon franchise, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV), on February 28, 2022 with a trailer showing off the new region! See everything we learned from the announcement trailer 2/27 of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet!

Everything We Learned from the Trailer
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Release Date
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the newest additions to the Pokemon series, have been confirmed for a release in Late 2022. Based on the release of previous Pokemon games, a release date in November 2022 is considered to be highly likely.

The Starter Trio
 Sprigatito (JP: Nyaoha ニャオハ) |
 Fuecoco (JP: Hogator ホゲータ) |
 Quaxly (JP: Quassa クワッサ) |
The three Starter Pokemon for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have been officially announced. Like previous Pokemon games, a Grass, Fire, and Water-type Starter will be available.
The Grass-type starter's name, Sprigatito is a portmanteau of the words sprig and gatito, which is Spanish for kitten
.
Fuecoco's name is a combination of fuego, the Spanish word for Fire and coco, which may be short for cocodrilo, the Spanish word for crocodile.
And finally, Quaxly's name may be a play on the words quack (a sound that a duck makes), and aqua.

Set in a New Region
The name of the region for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet has not been confirmed, nor what country it is based on, but it seems likely that the region will be based on Spain considering the appearance of the areas seen in the game.
