Only White-Striped Basculin Can Evolve

While there are many different forms of Basculin, only White-Striped Basculin can evolve into Basculegion. Trying to evolve a Red or Blue-Striped Basculin will not work.

White-Striped Basculin can only be caught in the Kitakami Region, which requires the Teal Mask DLC. The only other way to get one is to transfer one via Pokemon HOME or by trading with other players.

Accumulate 294 Or More Recoil Damage from Wave Crash

Accumulate 294 or More Recoil Damage Without Fainting

Basculin will evolve into Basculegion if it receives at least 294 recoil damage. Basculin can use either Wave Crash or Double-Edge to get recoil damage.

If Basculin faints, it will reset the damage counter. Make sure to heal between battles so that Basculin can accumulate up to 294 recoil damage. Additionally, Basculegion will have different appearances and stats based on its gender.

Basculegion Male and Female Stat Differences

Male and Female Stat Differences

Base Stats Male Female
Attack 112 92
Sp. Atk 80 100

A Male Basculegion has a higher Attack stat, while a Female Basculegion has a higher Special Attack stat.

It is recommended to get a Male Basculegion over a Female one since its Attack stat is higher than the Female's Sp. Atk stat.

Basculegion's movepool also has stronger phyiscal moves like Wave Crash, Last Respects, and Head Smash when compared to its best special moves in Surf, Shadow Ball, and Ice Beam.
