This is a guide to the Tune-Up Skill in Monster Hunter Rise (MH Rise): Sunbreak. Learn what the Tune-Up Skill does at each level, which Armor and Decorations have this skill, and our builds that use Tune-Up.

Best Armor Augments and Armor Recommendations
Critical Distance Range | |
---|---|
Silencer | Silencer with Tune-Up |
The Silencer normally provides one level of Recoil Down with a slight penalty to critical distance. Tune-Up upgrades this by decreasing recoil another level. Note that this also stacks with the Recoil Down skill itself so you can reach Low recoil even on Cluster Bombs. However, the critical distance also gets slightly shorter, requiring you to position yourself closer to the monster to deal optimal damage.
Guard Reaction | |
---|---|
Guard Lv 5 | Guard Lv 5 with Tune-Up |
The Heavy Bowgun's shield becomes much more useful with Tune-Up. Normally, even Guard Lv 5 still causes some knockback and delay when recovering. Tune-Up makes this almost a non-issue, allowing you to quickly recover after blocking attacks.
If you opt not to use mods on your Bowguns, Tune-Up has the same effect as one level of Reload Speed. However, you'll only really use this if you can't slot in a Quickload Jewel 1 in your set or if you're trying to reload faster than Reload Speed Lv 3.
Bowgun Mod | No Tune-Up | With Tune-Up |
---|---|---|
Long Barrel (LBG) | +5% | +7.5% |
Power Barrel (HBG) | +12.5% | +15% |
The displayed Attack increases by a few percentage points when you're using Tune-Up with a Long or Power Barrel. This translates to around 8 to 10 additional raw for endgame Bowguns, so you'll have to consider if it's worth using Tune-Up over other damage boosting skills.
Critical Distance Range | |
---|---|
Long Barrel | Long Barrel with Tune-Up |
In addition to increased damage output, the critical distance is also slightly increased if you use Tune-Up with a Long Barrel. This lets you deal optimum damage from even farther away.
Tune-Up Lv 2 adds one stackable level of Steadiness in addition to the previous level's Reload Speed effect. Like for Lv 1, we'd only suggest not using mods if you have issues slotting in decorations or want to reload even faster. Also, try to eat for Dango Temper to take advantage of the skill's deviation reduction, especially if your Bowgun has no deviation by default.
