Risen Shagaru Magala are elder dragons that have found a way to overcome their affliction. By suppressing the Qurio virus, they have gained great strength and new abilities. They release larger quantities of the Frenzy virus, resulting in viral explosions with increased radius. Anything that gets in their way will fall prey to their powerful wingarms. When their anger reaches its peak, they'll enter into their Risen state and their body will begin to glow |
Hunters will be able to slay a Risen Shagaru Magala via the M6★ Quest Risen Shagaru Magala. The quest will unlock as soon as the Hunter reaches MR180.

After inflicting a sufficient amount of damage to a Risen elder dragon, they'll enter into a Risen state. In this state, their attacks are much more powerful. Risen Shagaru Magala unleash countless viral pillars, before bringing them together into one giant explosion. Stay on the offensive to prevent them from entering this state or knock them out of it.

Risen Shagaru Magala's ultimate move is a One Hit KO Move and it can catch unsuspecting Hunters that gets caught in the crossfire.
Always make sure to avoid the pillars that this move summon, as getting hit by one of them ensures that you're gonna get hit by the final, powerful blast. Once you've avoided the pillars, execute an emergency evade to not get damaged by the final blast!
Risen Shagaru Magala States |
---|
Normal State: Risen Shagaru Magala has a darker tone than the normal Shagaru Magala - boasting a shade closer to a Gore Magala.
|
Frenzied State: This state will see risen Shagaru Magala have frenzy virus floating around it.
|
Risen State: Risen Shagaru Magala will have the signature orange tone of a Risen Elder Dragon - most prominently seen on its wings and horns.
|
Risen Shagaru Magala has a third Risen State that can go on top of its Frenzied State.
In this state, Risen Shagaru Magala is faster & more aggressive, and it has access to more area of effect frenzy moves including its Risen ultimate - we dubbed as Rising Pillar Burst - that can cart hunters instantly!
Risen Shagaru Magala still uses Frenzy attacks, so the ailment will still be present in the fight. The only way to positively mitigate this ailment is to attack enough and cure it.
But, in case you want to be cautious and bide your time to look for openings, Nulberries will be your friend.
Nulberry: How to Get and Effects
Shagaru Magala's Risen state is when it's most dangerous, so aim to remove it as much as possible. To do this, be aggressive and deal enough damage - like how Hunters have always dealt with all past Risen Elder Dragons!
The video above shows Risen Shagaru Magala being toppled out of its Frenzied State only.
Also take note that when a KO from the frenzy state is different from a KO from the Risen state! You might think it's out of its Risen state, but it's not.
Being KO'd from the frenzied state will see Shagaru Magala expelling dark purple clouds - in contrast to an orange effect when it topples out of its Risen state.
Getting Shagaru Magala out of its Frenzied State is more specific than Risen, as you have to target its head. Take note of this when attacking this Elder Dragon.
Like the normal Shagaru Magala, the safest place to attack is still around its hind legs. This is not optimal, as the highest damage is best dealt on the head - but in case you just want to deal damage to take it out of the Risen state, it's more consistent to stay around this area.
Risen Shagaru Magala share the same moves as the normal Master Rank Shagaru Magala. Once it activates its Risen state though, Risen Shagaru Magala unlocks a few deadly moves capable of carting any unsuspecting Hunter in one hit. Here are some of the new moves that all Hunters should be aware of!
Name | Description |
---|---|
Initiator Arm Slam | Risen Shagaru Magala hops a good distance to get near a hunter, then slams its powerful wingarms. |
Risen Frenzy Breath | Risen Shagaru Magala breathes exploding frenzy energy in a wide area infront of it while moving sideways to confuse Hunters. |
Risen Wingarm Slam | Risen Shagaru Magala slams its wingarms charged with Frenzy Energy multiple times. |
Rising Pillar Burst [DANGER] |
Risen Shagaru Magala's one hit KO move. It summons multiple pillars around the Hunter that narrows down to the center, then it uses a blast attack to finish the move off. |
Initiator Arm Slam Attack Information |
---|
Initiator Arm Slam: Risen Shagaru Magala hops and initiates an attack with its powerful wingarms. This can catch overconfident Hunters that think they have quite a distance away from Shagaru! Always be aware of this move, as it can catch anyone off guard. Always be on the ready to avoid attacks even if Shagaru is far away. |
Risen Frenzy Breath Attack Information |
---|
Risen Frenzy Breath: Risen Shagaru Magala breaths on the ground and scatters exploding frenzy energy that homes on the Hunter. It will also move while doing this, to confuse the Hunter even more. To avoid this, simply sheath your weapon and move! You may also roll consecutive times. |
Risen Wingarm Slams Attack Information |
---|
Risen Wingarm Slam: Risen Shagaru Magala slams its powerful wingarms, creating pillars of frenzy that propagates forward. It does this move for up to 3 to 4 consecutive times, so don't Wirefall haphazardly. |
Rising Pillar Burst Attack Information |
---|
Rising Pillar Burst: Risen Shagaru Magala rises to the air and summons pillars of frenzy around the battlefield that spins around while getting near each other. Anyone caught in the center will be incapacitated, opening them up for the final deadly blast. It is imperative to not get hit by any of the pillars because that opens you up to the final blast. Don't be complacent if you've avoided the pillars though - the final blast has a wide area of effect so execute an emergency evade in time for the explosion. |
