The Timeworn Crimson Horn has a very high chance to drop by breaking the horn on Daimyo Hermitaur's shell. This means you'll need two part breaks on the shell for it to count. Keep focusing on the shell until it looks like the image above. You'll also want to capture the monster after the horn breaks for the extra drop chance.

Daimyo Hermitaur's shell has a blunt hitzone of 40, meaning weapons like the Hammer and Hunting Horn will bounce less and deal more damage compared to slicing and shot damage. We recommend using the Hammer for its simpler controls if you aren't familiar with the Hunting Horn. Try to equip Partbreaker as well to break the shell more easily.
Alternatively, you can use weapons with moves that don't bounce such as Gunlance shelling, Charge Blade Phial attacks, and Switch Axe sword attacks to break through its tough shell.
