Gore Magala possess wings with black, shroud-like membrane. They lack visual receptors, heightening their senses by scattering scales from their wings to ascertain the locations of lifeforms. At the peak of their senses, feelers extend from their head, their wings unfurl, and they become frenzied. They're feared not only for their sinister appearance but also for the mysterious Frenzy virus they carry. |

Higher numbers indicate higher potential damage to the monster.
Coming into contact with patches of scales may infect you with the Frenzy virus. You'll lose your natural ability to heal and become more susceptible to all forms of attack. Keep attacking before infecton sets in to overcome it. Its Frenzied State can be dispelled by attacking the head.

Shagaru Magala is the mature form of Gore Magala, which after evolution earns the status of an Elder Dragon. Its attacks are stronger and more menacing so be careful!

Gore Magala will periodically attack using dark-colored clouds that inflict Frenzy. While in this state, a new gauge will appear on the upper left side corner of the screen beside the Hunter's name.
Overcome the Frenzy by going to the offensive and attacking Gore Magala before the gauge fills up. Overcoming the Frenzy gives the hunter a temporary affinity boost and immunity to being infected with the Frenzy for a short while.
Letting the gauge fill up completely will give you the negative effects of the Frenzy. Your natural healing regeneration will cease and you take more damage from all attacks so be careful!
When you think you can't overcome the Frenzy before the gauge fills up, you can use Nulberries to lessen the progress of the gauge. This helps if Gore Magala is unusually aggressive and you can't find an opening to attack.
Nulberry Location: How to Get and Effects
Gore Magala will stretch its wing arms and expose its horns once it enters the Frenzied State. During this time, it gains increased aggression and deals more damage. Be careful not to go in carelessly while it's in this state!
Targeting Gore Magala's head while in the Frenzied State will cause it to topple down once enough damage is dealt. Use this opportunity to land extra hits!
Gore Magala has a unique mechanic where its horns can only be broken when in Frenzied State.
If you're having a hard time focusing on Gore Magala's head, we suggest using Pitfall or Shock Traps to make it easier to target. Reminder, monsters build immunity to traps so only use them when you're primed to dish out huge amounts of damage.
Flash and Sonic Bombs don't work against Gore Magala, but Pitfall and Shock Traps do. Use this to your advantage if you want to control this hyper-aggressive monster.
Though the juvenile version of the Elder Dragon Shagaru Magala, Gore Magala can be captured. Before evolving, Gore Magala is not yet classified as an Elder Dragon so capturing is still an option when hunting this monster.
Name | Description |
---|---|
Frenzy Breath | A triple, Frenzy-infused breath attack that travels on the ground. |
Side Tackle | A quick side tackle using its entire body. |
Bite and Tail Swipe Combo | A wide reaching attack using its sharp claws and robust tail. |
Aerial Lunge | A quick gliding attack that can damage anything on its way. |
Frenzy Burst | Gore Magala uses its strength to create Frenzy-infused explosions on the ground. This move explodes multiple times in a huge area. |
Ground Slam | Gore Magala uses its huge, strong wingarms to stomp on the ground with full force. Send Hunters caught in the epicenter flying. |
Frenzy Breath Attack Information |
---|
Frenzy Breath: Gore Magala can fire projectiles that can infect its victims with the Frenzy Virus. This attack becomes more powerful while the monster is frenzied. The attack also homes in on the Hunter so unless you're near Gore Magala, you are sure to be hit. On that note, try wirebugging or dashing towards Gore Magala to avoid this move. |
Side Tackle Attack Information |
---|
Side Tackle: Gore Magala uses the entire length of its body to quickly tackle Hunters staying on its side. Avoid this attack by rolling to the side or across Gore Magala during the long wind up. |
Bite and Tail Swipe Combo Attack Information |
---|
Bite and Tail Swipe Combo: Gore Magala takes a bite at its target and immediately follows it up with a tail swipe. This is a wide sweeping attack that catches Hunter off guard, primarily on the follow-up tail swipe. Always be aware that this is a two-stage move so evade or guard properly! |
Aerial Lunge Attack Information |
---|
Aerial Lunge: Gore Magala quickly lunges down from the skies to deal damage to anything on the way. While Frenzied, Gore Magala will turn around after landing - making the attack radius a little bit bigger. This lunge travels in a straight line so evading sideways will do the trick. If you're stuck and can't do it though, use Emergency Evade! |
While Gore Magala is frenzied, all its breath attacks become more explosive. This attack has it firing a projectile downward, ending with multiple bursts.
Frenzy Burst Variations |
---|
Line Burst (Frenzied): A Frenzy Burst that has a follow-up explosion, lined up like a line in front of Gore Magala. Usually only done when Gore Magala is in Frenzied State. Avoid the ball by rolling sideways then roll backwards to avoid the burst! |
Close Range Burst (Normal): Gore Magala can also release its frenzy bursts at close range, so keep your guard up! Roll towards Gore's tail to avoid this move. Evading backwards is not good considering the bursts have huge hitboxes. |
Close Range Burst (Frenzied): A variation of the normal close range burst where Gore Magala will detonate frenzy bursts in a wider area! Evade backwards to avoid this move or evade towards Gore Magala's tail! |
Ground Slam Attack Information |
---|
Dragon Ground Slam (Frenzied): Gore Magala uses its strong wingarms to slam the earth beneath it, sending Hunters caught in the epicenter flying. It is quite easy to evade this move because Gore Magala has a huge wind up time before it slams down. Evade towards its back to avoid this attack! |
