Wroggi are bird wyverns that travel in packs that are led by the largest and most toxic member. Be careful when one raises its head and its poison sac expands—that signals that it's about to spit a cloud of poisonous mist. |

Higher numbers indicate higher potential damage to the monster.
Remember to bring some Antidotes to deal with its poison. Taking out the sac around a Great Wroggi's neck will also prevent it from producing venom, so aim for the head.

Regular Wroggi are going to be a nuisance when you are fighting Great Wroggi as they can also poison you. They can scratch and bite too, causing you to flinch and making it harder to avoid Great Wroggi's attacks.
You'll find yourself getting poisoned by either the Great Wroggi or its accompanying Wroggi, so always have Antidotes and Herbal Medicine on you to fight off the poison.
The Great Wroggi will spit poison often, and while you should have antidotes on you, the best cure is prevention, so dodge its poison spit mists!
Great Wroggi are weak to water and ice weapons, so if you have these elemental weapons, use them.
Attacking the Great Wroggi's head deals extra damage. Go for it as much as possible.
Great Wroggi does not get any new attacks in Master Rank. However, it uses its Poison Breath to Side Slam combo more often and can reposition itself more quickly after releasing the poison. It also tends to use its Side Slam more, as it's the most damaging move it has.
Great Wroggi uses the following attacks in Low and High Rank quests.
Name | Description |
---|---|
Poison Breath | Great Wroggi lobs a cloud of poison that lingers for a short time. |
Side Slam | A full-body slam meant to throw hunters off their feet. |
Spinning Tail Attack | Great Wroggi spins around while whipping its tail as an attack |
Bite Attacks | Great Wroggi bites at its targets to flinch them. |
Summon Wroggi | A roar the Great Wroggi uses to call upon more Wroggi to assist it. |
Agile Backhop | Great Wroggi leaps backward and can follow up with an attack. |
The Great Wroggi can poison hunters using its breath attacks. These attacks leave a mist of poison, so it's best to steer clear and make a tactical retreat when the Great Wroggi uses it.
Poison Breath Variations |
---|
Close-Range Poison Breath: This attack has Great Wroggi lowering its head and firing off a large cloud of poison in front of it. The poison covers a wide area and stays for a while, so avoid it as you approach the monster. Its poison sac will appear to puff up when it's about to use this variation of poison breath. |
Long-Range Poison Breath: Unlike the close-range version, Great Wroggi fires this upward, giving it extra range. However, this covers a smaller area compared to the close-range one. |
Double Poison Breath: When enraged, Great Wroggi will sometimes fire two poison breath attacks in succession. Make sure to watch out for any incoming poison as it can do both versions of its poison breath attack. |
Side Slam Variations |
---|
Side Slam: Like the Great Baggi, the Great Wroggi will turn to its side and charge sideways towards its foes, much like a shoulder tackle. |
Breath to Slam Combo: This combines Great Wroggi's trademark poison breath with its side slam. It will normally use the side slam immediately releasing the poison, but it will sometimes reposition itself. This usually happens when its target is far enough from its original position. |
Spinning Tail Attack Information |
---|
Spinning Tail Attack: Great Wroggi spins around and whips its tail to attack hunters. It will usually do this twice in a row, but it will occasionally spin for a third time. |
Bite Attack Information |
---|
Bite Attacks: Great Wroggi will usually bite at its targets when they are right in front of it to trip or flinch them. It can perform two bites in a row, so keep this move in mind when you're aiming for its face. |
Summon Wroggi Move Information |
---|
Summon Wroggi: Great Wroggi lets out a roar to call a Wroggi to help it fight the hunter. Like many monsters, its roar is also a signal that it's enraged. |
Agile Backhop Move Information |
---|
Agile Backhop: The larger bird wyverns are extra mobile and can jump great distances. They can also backstep to avoid hunter attacks and follow it up with any of its attacks like the poison breath. |
