Nargacuga clad in radiant fur that live in fog-shrouded lands. Lucent Nargacuga hide in the night's fog and moonlight, springing assaults with neither shape nor shadow. Astounding agility and marvelous mobility make them difficult to capture with the naked eye. The throng of toxic tailspikes they launch make these wyverns perilous beasts indeed. |

Higher numbers indicate higher potential damage to the monster.
Lucent Nargacuga conceal themselves using fog and moonlight during certain attacks. Look out for signs of attack and try to predict their movements. Careful when their tail bristles, they can launch tailspikes or unleash an array of other deadly tail attacks. Breaking the tailspikes will tame these ferocious moves.

Beware When It Turns Invisible
Target Camera Still Works When Invisible
Avoid the Poisonous Spikes
Attack Its Toxic Tail
Exploit Its Ice Weakness
|
One of the unique capabilities of Lucent Nargacuga is that it can become invisible and attack hunters. It can do moves similar to a normal Nargacuga with the added difficulty of disappearing before using its moves. When it's enraged, you'll be able to see red streaks from its eyes so you can still follow its movements while invisible.
We recommended using the Target Camera against regular Nargacuga to help keep track of it since it moves around a lot. Thankfully, this feature still works on Lucent Nargacuga even when it turns invisible! Use it if you're not sure where its position is so you can properly anticipate its attacks.
Target Lock: How to Use the Lock On Camera and Targeting Arrow
Lucent Nargacuga's tailspikes contain poison which it uses to cripple hunters. These spikes can also stick to the ground, so stay clear of them. Bringing Antidotes or Herbal Medicine during the hunt is vital when fighting this monster.
Lucent Nargacuga will only send out poisonous spikes when its tail is expanded. You can keep attacking it until it staggers and retracts its spikes. This will temporarily shut down its poisonous moves and even give an item drop. Note that once the tail is completely cut off, it can still use the toxic spikes, so don't lower your guard.
Lucent Nargacuga is weakest to the Ice element. Attacking its head and cutwings are particularly effective for elemental weapons. Weapons made from Goss Harag and Lunagaron are effective against it as these weapons bear the Ice element.
Name | Description |
---|---|
Tail Whip | Lucent Nargacuga swings its tail towards the front of its head from its left or right side. |
Double Tail Spin | Lucent Nargacuga will do two tail spins to cover a large range around it. |
Stalking Lunge | Like regular Nargacuga, it picks a target and then lunges toward them. |
Double Poison Tail Slam | Lucent Nargacuga slams its tail twice on the ground. Poisonous spikes are fired every time it slams its tail. |
Poison Spikes | Lucent Nargacuga launches its toxic spikes to poison its opponents. |
Surprise Attacks | Lucent Nargacuga briefly turns invisible then pounces when it reappears. |
Tornado Tackle [DANGER] |
Lucent Nargacuga lets out a roar and then quickly spins forward. |
Surprise Heavy Tail Slam [DANGER] |
Lucent Nargacuga turns invisible and reappears doing a somersault and slamming down its spiked tail. |
Tail Whip Information |
---|
Tail Whip: This move is similar to regular Nargacuga's own Tail Whip, where it will swing its long tail towards the front of its head from its left or right side. It has wide range and will hit hunters directly in front of Nargacuga, so hunters positioned at its head should dodge to the opposite side of the swipe or move away out of range. When its tail is expanded, poison spikes are also fired from this attack. |
Double Tail Spin Attack Information |
---|
Double Tail Spin: Lucent Nargacuga two powerful tail spins in opposing directions, allowing it to hit a large range around it. This is similar to the move performed by regular Nargacuga in High Rank and Master Rank. Similarly, any hunter hit by the first spin should stay down and take advantage of the moment of invincibility during the second tail spin. |
Stalking Lunge Variations |
---|
Stalking Lunge: A classic Nargacuga move where it stalks its target and then quickly lunges at them with two claw attacks. |
Feinting Lunge: Lucent Nargacuga shows off its assassin-like prowess by faking out its lunges. It seems the real attack happens after it shifts position for the third time, so prepare to avoid its head-on attack then. |
Double Tail Slam Attack Information |
---|
Double Poison Tail Slam: Similar to regular Nargacuga, this attack has Lucent Nargacuga slamming its spiked tail on the ground twice. The major difference is that poisonous spikes are launched in three directions after each slam. Try to avoid using Wirefall carelessly when it performs this attack, or you might get hit twice then succumb to the poison. |
Poison Spikes Variations |
---|
Triple Poison Ring: Lucent Nargacuga spins its spiked tail around and then launches its toxic spikes into the air. Once they start falling, these spikes cover a wide area around the monster. The spikes fall in three waves, with each covering a larger area. There's a short delay between each ring, so you can time it to get closer to Lucent Nargacuga or try to stay away to prevent getting poisoned. |
Poison Rain: A quicker variation of the Triple Poison Ring. Instead of falling over a wide area, this attack has the spikes raining down in a straight line. Watch out for the purple markings on the ground since that's where the spikes will land. |
Double Spike Shots: This move is similar to regular Nargacuga's own spike shots, but with the added poison effect. Be careful not to touch the spikes on the ground since they'll also poison you. |
Fanning Spike Shots: This variation of its spike shots has Lucent Nargacuga spread them in a fan-like formation in front of it. Get closer to the monster when it does this since this is a ranged attack. |
Surprise Attack Variations |
---|
Surprise Pounce: Lucent Nargacuga briefly turns invisible, with the only indicator of its position being its glowing red eyes. When it emerges from its invisible state, it quickly lunges at a hunter. Make sure you're ready to locate its eyes to avoid getting caught off-guard. |
Pounce to Tail Swipe Combo: This variation of its surprise pounce attack has the monster follow up with a wide-reaching tail swipe. When enraged, it will sometimes connect to a Double Poison Tail Slam. |
Surprise Claw Attack: Lucent Nargacuga cloaks itself with its claws. Once it reappears, it will always swipe its claws at its target. You should be able to avoid this as long as you evade away from the arc of its claw attack and don't leave yourself wide open. |
Surprise Tail Slam: When the monster appears to stalk you while turning invisible, you should prepare for an incoming tail slam. Also remember that if its tail is expanded, poisonous spikes will also be fired in several directions. |
Tornado Tackle Attack Information |
---|
Tornado Tackle: Lucent Nargacuga starts this attack by roaring during its enraged state. It will then reposition itself and then move forward by quickly spinning its body. This move can send unprepared hunters flying. Shield users should also be careful as this move hits multiple times. |
Surprise Heavy Tail Slam Information |
---|
Surprise Heavy Tail Slam: Lucent Nargacuga will turn invisible for this attack, so be sure to track where its eyes are. It will quickly change its position while hidden and will reappear mid-attack doing a somersault and land a very strong tail slam. Getting hit by this usually leaves you stunned. |
