This is a hunt guide for Apex Zinogre, an Apex monster appearing in its own quest, and Rampage Quests in Monster Hunter (MH Rise) for the Nintendo Switch. Read on to learn how to beat Apex Zinogre, How to Unlock Apex Zinogre Solo Quest, Apex Zinogre attack patterns, and general rampage tips!

|A Zinogre so mighty, it was crowned an Apex. Its body is covered in scars and wounds as if it had been caught in a storm, and it's seemingly always dominated by wrath and terror. Its forelegs - and their every strike - brim with ferocious sparks. The call of an Apex unleashes its tortured anger on nearby beasts, driving them into a frenzy.|

Update 3.0 sees the arrival of new monsters and Apex Monsters - and that includes Apex Zinogre. Make sure you update your copy of the game to take on this monster!
|The Voltaic Apex Zinogre||
Complete an Apex Zinogre Rampage Quest, Reach HR 100 and Finish the Urgent Quest "The Crimson Glow"
Once you update to Version 3.0, Apex Zinogre will start to appear in Rampage Quests. When you reach HR 100, finished the Urgent Quest
The Crimson Glow, then took on that said Apex Zinogre Rampage Quest at least once, you are now able to take on Apex Zinogre in its own slay quest!
Apex Zinogre will start to appear in High Rank Rampages when you reach HR8 after the 3.0 Update. Like all Rampage Quests, you can run Apex Zinogre rampage quests an unlimited number of times. Do note, however, that monsters appearing in Rampages are completely random so check the Quest Counter regularly!
Beating the Apex Zinogre is a great way of farming Defender Ticket 9! Clearing the Apex Zinogre Rampage Quest grants the Defender Ticket 9 as a Quest Reward.
The Defender Ticket 9 can be used to Ramp-Up equipment or used as material for Melding Talismans . It has a material value of 100 when making talismans, which makes it ideal to farm and use if you want to craft multiple talismans.
Higher numbers indicate higher potential damage to the monster.
|・An angry Apex Zinogre will trigger a devastating move, causing a lighting strike upon the Thunderbugs it controls, after which it will pounce viciously on its prey. Push on against an enraged Apex to quickly rid it of its rage and steady its temper.|
The more stars, the more advantageous it will be for the player.

Apex Zinogre has the all the moves of a regular Zinogre with added moves that are harder to telegraph and destroys Rampage gates. Here are some of the notable ones you have to watch out for:
|Dash Attack||Apex Zinogre's dash attack imbued with Thunder energy. Can be followed up with another attack.|
|Lightning Mines||Apex Zinogre scatters mines seething with Thunder energy. Stay away as much as possible!|
|Thunderous Somersault||A quick somersault attack that throws hunters upward, giving Apex Zinogre the chance to follow up with an attack.|
|Stomping Light Show||Apex Zinogre's stomp that creates pillar of light in a straight line. Usually comes in pairs.|
|Pillars of Light
|Three pillars of lights that extends outward in a cone. Anyone caught will be thrown in the air and will be susceptible to follow up attacks!|
|Apex Zinogre focuses all energy to one of its forelegs then proceeds on stomping it with extreme force.|
|Apex Zinogre's ultimate attack that can cart hunters. Apex Zinogre starts by scattering lightning in a wide area around itself then charges towards the hunter and performs a series of attack that all summon lightning!|
|Lord of All Lightning
|The rampage-only ultimate move of Apex Zinogre where it destroys all Hunting Installations near it then attacks the gate with extreme force!|
Apex Zinogre quickly charges towards the hunter then usually follows up with another attack. This can throw off hunters because Apex Zinogre can immediately go off-screen making you unaware of the follow-up attack.
Always try to keep Apex Zinogre on screen by pressing L when you're using the target camera!
Apex Zinogre will scatter balls of lightning between himself and the hunter making repositioning a tricky thing to do. Avoid this completely as this goes away naturally after some time. If you are a gunner, this is a very big opening to let loose some shots!
Apex Zinogre will execute a somersault while creating lightning bolts with its tail. Anyone caught will be thrown up where Apex Zinogre can freely follow up another attack!
This combo can cart hunters so always have a spare Wirebug so you can Wirefall (zL + B) away to safety!
A Apex Zinogre's stomp is imbued with Thunder energy that every stomp creates a pillar of lightning that travels in a straight line. You may think that Apez Zinogre missed you by an inch only to be surprised with the lightning that is to come! We suggest evading sideways and be mindful that this attack comes in pairs!
Apex Zinogre will boast its control over lightning by forming three pillars of light that moves forward in a cone. Hunters caught in any of the three pillars will be thrown up where Apex Zinogre can follow up with another attack!
This combo can cart hunters so always have a spare Wirebug so you can Wirefall (zL + B) away to safety!
Zinogre's famous stomp move is even more powerful with this Apex version. Apex Zinogre will focus all its energy to one foreleg then stomp on its enemies with extreme force that it can cart unaware hunters. This can be easily telegraphed though as Apex Zinogre will charge for this attack first giving you enough reaction time to at least evade away!
If you're using a weapon that has counterattack capabilities like the Long Sword or the Charge Blade, you can use the charging opportunity to prepare for that incoming attack and counterattack effectively!
Considered as Apex Zinogre's ultimate move, this attack has two phases:
Apex ZInogre will roar and summon lightning in an area around him effectively creating confusion among its enemies. This can be easily dodged though as there are markings on the ground where the lightning will fall. Stay off those markings!
Finally, Apex Zinogre will move towards the target at a quick pace, executing a series of attacks that all summon powerful lightning! Anyone caught in its path will be carted so there is no choice but to perform an Emergency Evade!
The rampage-only ultimate move of Apex Zinogre that it first performs once it arrives. Hunting Installations will be enveloped by wisps of yellow electricity that gradually grow brighter. Acting as a warning system, once you notice this you better stay away from any Hunting Installation because in 10 seconds, it will be hit with lightning.
The lightning deals 1000 Damage to any Hunting Installation it targets, guaranteeing its swift end. Afterward, it will attack the gate dealing massive damage!
Stay aggressive but careful when Apex Zinogre is fully charged

When Apex Zinogre is charged, its hide becomes softer and it is susceptible to higher damage. However, Apex Zinogre is also more aggressive, will deal more damage, and combo more attacks while charged so be careful!
While charged, attacking the forelegs of Apex Zinogre will cause it to fall. Once it does, unload all your attacks onto the head as it is its major weak point.
Apex Zinogre boasts perfect control over Thunder hence most of its attack has the Thunder element that causes Thunderblight. Nullify Thunderblight by increasing your Thunder Resistance to 20 using Thunder Res Jewels.
When you are affected by Thunderblight, you are more likely to be stunned. We suggest including Stun Resistance in your builds when fighting Apex Zinogre. You can easily do this by gemming in Steadfast Jewel 1.

Use the Power Kiln to Refresh Installations
Wyvern Ride Whenever Possible

Bring Your Own Traps and Bombs
Flying Targeters such as Pukei-Pukei can be a major nuisance during the rampage if left unchecked. Shooting them with the Ballista's Retreat Shot will send them crashing down to the ground and incapacitate them for a few precious seconds.
Alternatively, you can also use a Flash Bomb if you are not manning an installation.
Gate Crashers must always be eliminated as soon as possible to ensure that your barricades and gates remain healthy! Fortunately, all of the manned installations have efficient ways to restrain and control them.
|How to Control Gate Crashers via Installations|
|Ballista||Use Crag Shot on a Gate Crasher's head twice to knock it down.
You can also use Retreat Shot on most Gate Crashers to interrupt their attack.
|Cannon||Charge your Thunder Shot to at least level two for a good chance to apply Thunderblight.
Once Thunderblight is applied, bombard the Gate Crasher's head with regular shots to knock it down.
|Machine Cannon||Use Silkbind Shot at a Gate Crasher to drag and restrain it in front of you for a few seconds.
You can pelt it with Cluster Shots as soon as it is within close range.
Be mindful of the Guard mechanic whenever you are manning an installation! Guard not only reduces the damage taken by you and the installation itself, but it also prevents you from getting knocked off.
You also do not have to worry about timing your guard because the stance is maintained as long as you hold the R button.
Ever found yourself in a situation in which three Anjanaths are about to knock at your gate? Consider using the Dragonator or Splitting Wyvernshot whenever you're caught in a very tough scenario!
Make the most out of the rest period in between Rampage Waves by using the Power Kiln. The Power Kiln repairs installations and reduces the cooldown of the Dragonator and Splitting Wyvernshot for every third heave of coal into it.
This ensures that all of your installations are primed and ready for the next wave!
Aside from getting eliminated, bombarding monsters with manned installations can make them vulnerable to Wyvern Riding. This lets you eliminate multiple monsters with relative ease so always keep an eye out for the opportunity!
Wyvernfire Artillery may seem like a clunky installation at first glance but the key here is to determine the best position for it. We find that these installations perform best when positioned just beside the gate because this ensures constant damage to any monster that approaches it!
Dragonbait attracts Stalkers with its loud horn, making it the perfect installation to place in front of Dragonators. Keep in mind that you only have a limited number of Dragonbait per Rampage Quest so make the most out of them!
If you're looking to fortify your position further, consider using your own Shock and Pitfall Traps at key positions and choke points. Large and Mega Barrel Bombs can also be stacked on top of Bamboo Bombs to further increase their potency!
You can replenish your stock in between Rampage Waves by entering the indicated room within the campsite.
Once Apex Zinogre appears, it will summon lightning to smite all hunting installations and will immediately barrel through the first gate, destroying it instantly. Immediately make your way to the Final Area as this happens and proceed to set up your defenses.
Don't miss out on the buffs that a counter signal offers! Ringing a Counter Gong greatly increases the attack power of all hunters present, granting them a fighting chance against Apex Zinogre!
Apex Zinogre will attempt to charge and destroy the Final gate in Rampages. You can use Splitting Wyvernshots to flinch and stop Apex Zinogre from doing this!
The actual fight against Apex Zinogre is the perfect time to use specific Warriors of Kamura in your arsenal. It is important to note that this does not mean that you should use all of them at once though!
Each of these special installations have their own benefits and mechanics when activated. Refer to the list below to determine when is the best time to use each one:
|When to Deploy the Warriors of Kamura|
|Elder Fugen||Elder Fugen unleashes a very strong AoE attack in its deployed area. Use this to deal massive damage against Apex Zinogre whenever it charges up for a big attack or while bashing on the gate.|
|Master Utsushi||Master Utsushi performs a large AoE attack in its deployed area that makes regular monster caught in the attack rideable. Remember, Apex Monsters are not mountable so he is best deployed whenever Apex Zinogre summons a horde of monsters!|
|Yomogi the Chef||Yomogi bombards monsters with her Machine Cannon and increases the damage of all hunters in the area, similar to the Counter Signal. It is recommended that you deploy her whenever Apex Zinogre charges up for a big attack on the gate as well.|
