Title Update 5 has maximized the available augment slots for Qurious Crafting. You can now expand your weapon's augment slots with another - increasing the maximum slots to ten (10), with the final anomaly slot also providing bonus attack and sharpness!
Free Title Update 5 (TU5) Release Date and Monsters
Three weapon augments also received new levels thanks to several new Afflicted Materials added in the update, allowing you to further power up your weapons!

As you unlock slots and increase the weapon's anomaly slot level, your weapon now will earn passive stats that ranges from Attack, Sharpness, and Element increase. All the stats are positive and will only aim to improve on your weapon so always upgrade your anomaly slots!

As expected, Title Update 4 increased the available augment slots for Weapon Qurious Crafting - increasing it to a maximum of nine (9)!
On top of all that, some Augments also got a new level! Grind those afflicted materials and level up your qurious crafting game!

Free Title Update 3 also enhances Qurious Weapon Crafting by giving a maximum of 8 Anomaly Slots, allowing for more augment combinations.

New afflicted materials mean new weapon augments in Qurious Crafting! Attack Boost and Status Boost augments both gained an extra level while Elemental Boost now has five levels.
No updates to armor upgrades were added for Free Title Update 2.
More weapon augment slots were added to all weapons eligible for augmenting. The level 3 upgrade, which gives six anomaly slots, requires you to have 10000z, Afflicted Dire Claw+, Afflicted Shard, and Afflicted Hardfang!
This will allow you to fill in more weapon augments to your favorite weapons and to further power up your endgame builds with more boosts!

Before getting the capability to augment weapons thru Qurious Crafting, you have to enable augmentation for that specific weapon. Enabled weapons would have the qurio symbol (bat-like symbol) on the upper left of the weapon preview screen.
Enabling augmentation requires afflicted materials which can be obtained from Anomaly Quests and Anomaly Investigations!

Players should consider adding more anomaly slots as higher level Qurious Augments will cost more slots to fit in.

Starting Title Update 4, unlocking slots and increasing the weapon's anomaly slot level will give your weapons passive stat bonuses to Attack, Sharpness, or Element.
These bonuses are exclusive per weapon, and always aim to improve on the weapon's stats so always make sure to maximize your anomaly slots and grind for the materials needed!
Add Anomaly Slot Augment: Bonus Effects
Considering weapons only have a limited number of slots, augments can be equipped and unequipped easily via your local blacksmith in Kamura or Elgado. This gives you freedom to actually customize your weapon as you please depending on what you're hunting.
Need more sharpness against hard-shelled monsters? Equip Sharpness Boost. Need more element cause the monster is elementally weak? Equip Elemental Boost!
Though they can be equipped / unequipped, augments are exclusive to a weapon and can't be transferred to another. You have to craft new augments for every weapon you want to customize.
