List of Contents
Both new locales in the Sunbreak each have only one Sub-Camp.
Locale | Sub-Camps | Request |
---|---|---|
Jungle | ・Sub-Camp (Area 8) | ・Jungle Sub-Camp Security |
Citadel | ・Sub-Camp (Northeast of Area 5) |
・ Citadel Sub-Camp Security |
Sub-Camp 1 | Area 8 |
---|
There is a spot for a sub-camp in Area 8! To reach it, go to the area indicated on the map (near the beach in Area 3) and use your Wirebugs to follow the Golden Spiribugs to reach the hole in the cliff. Walk a little further, and you should find a spot for a sub-camp!
There are also many useful exits in this sub-camp, so this should be a good spot to start out for a variety of hunts!

How to Unlock | Clear the Request Jungle Sub-Camp Security after discovering the sub-camp location |
Quest Conditions | Slay 8 Hermitaur in the Jungle |
The best way to complete the Jungle Sub-Camp Security Request is to wait to complete the A Sinking Feeling M1 Key Quest until after you've found the Sub-Camp Location. Then, you'll be able to complete both the Request and the Key Quest at the same time, while also having the convenience of the Map pointing out the locations of all the Hermitaur.
Sub-Camp | Northeast of Area 5 |
---|
From the high plateau in Area 5, head northeast, and you'll find the Sub-Camp through a cave. From the map, it looks like you should be able to reach it easily from Area 4, but the camp is actually accessed via Area 5.
Citadel Sub-Camp 1 | |
---|---|
How to Unlock | Clear the Request Citadel Sub-Camp Security after discovering the sub-camp location |
Quest Conditions | Slay 8 Boggi in the Citadel |
The best way to complete this request is to go on the Soft or Spotty? optional MR3 Quest to hunt Boggi. This quest in particular has their locations indicated on the Map, making it easier to finish.
Sub-Camps are small camps within maps that have most of the functionalities that a Main or Base Camp would have. You can use Sub-Camps to fast travel, eat food, change your equipment, and use the Buddy Board.
Sub-Camps are most useful for fast travelling! You can get from one end of the map to the other, depending on where you want to go. It's incredibly convenient for going through farming routes and for hunting monsters in record time.
How to Fast Travel
If you forgot to eat before you left for your hunt, that's fine! You can eat in the Main Camp and in the Sub-camps, though you won't get access to any of the Daily Specials.
Canteen (Tea Shop) and Food Skills
You can access your Item Box at both the Main Camp and the Sub-Camps, which means you can restock your items, change your weapons and armor, set decorations, and change Switch Skills!
Sometimes you might want to trade in your Palamute for a Palico after you finished going through your Spiribird route. Or maybe you just forgot to change your Buddies around before the hunt. Whatever the reason is, you have full access to the Buddy Board in your Sub-Camps!
Palico and Palamute Buddy Skills Guide
The main feature missing from Sub-Camps is the availability of the Supply Box outside the camp. Because of this, you cannot deliver heavy items like eggs to Sub-Camps—only to Main Camps. You also can't get the free items handed out during quests at Sub-Camps.
How to Carry Eggs: Delivery Quest Guide
Start by looking for a Sub-Camp. These are usually secluded areas that are off the beaten path.
Prompts will appear on the right side of your screen once you've successfully discovered a Sub-Camp, followed by a brief dialogue from Master Utsushi.
In Sunbreak, Oboro the Merchant hands out the requests to unlock the Jungle and Citadel Sub-camps, taking over Kagero's role from the base game. Once you've discovered a sub-camp, head back to Elgado Outpost and check with Oboro. Look for a Request that rewards you with the Sub-Camp you've discovered and complete it.
The Sub-Camp will be unlocked once you've completed the associated Request from Oboro the Merchant!
