It's difficult to even get close to one of these metallic elder dragons, but some claim better odds if the creature is weakened with poison, or has its horn broken, limiting the amount of wind pressure it can muster. |
Kushala Daora is one of many new Elder Dragons added to Monster Hunter Rise (MH Rise) in the first Free Title update released last April 28, 2021!

Beckons dark dragon wind pressure as the whirlwinds surrounding its body seethe more wildly, and will deflect any non-piercing bow or bowgun shots not aimed at its head. Keep on the attack to quell the wind's power—reports also tell of an opening in its stormy barrier after unleashing a giant wind attack.

Kushala Daora will strengthen its metallic body and be invulnerable when the black wind aura is present - save for the head and hind legs. Target those whenever the aura is there!
Kushala's powerful black wind aura gets negated when Kushala is poisoned - and with it the invulnerability. You can use a variety of tools and weapons like the Poison Kunais from the Supply Box and Chameleos weapons against it!
Kushala's instant death combo (Wind Beam of Death) can catch hunters off-guard and the only way to mitigate this is to wirefall! Whenever you see yourself in this tricky situation, wirefall away from the black wind ball that follows!
Each of the new Elder Dragon armors are designed to combat other Elder Dragons.
Chameleos Blessing is a new armor skill obtained by equipping 4 pieces of Mizuha Armor from Chameleos that can negate all Wind Pressure and extend poison duration against a monster. This is a very hard counter against Kushala Daora so consider using this if you're having a hard time!
Mizuha Set Armor Set Skills and Forging Materials
Kushala Daora loves to fly and attack while airborne - so use Flash Bombs to ground the Elder Dragon! Kushala builds resistance against it though so make sure to make every Flash Bomb count!

A very fast breath attack that can whip hunters upward! Kushala will usually inhale and charge before executing this attack so evade as quickly as you can!
When you're hit, we suggest using Wirefall (zL + B) to regain your footing!
Kushala Daora will charge and accumulate all the energy from its surroundings while pulling you to the center. When fully charged, Kushala will whip up a huge blizzard that extends outward and deals massive damage. Move away from the center by roll evading, emergency evading, or wiredashing!
Kushala flies up then whips a tornado in front of it. This attack can send you flying so walk or evade sideways once Kushala starts inhaling!
Kushala may also follow this up with a Wind Ball attack!
When Kushala has the Black Wind aura, it can create up to 5 tornados! They scatter in the battlefield outward as well so evade backward or sideways!
Kushala may also follow this up with the Wind Beam of Death combo so do not be disoriented by the tornadoes and keep your focus on Kushala Daora!
A straight line wind beam attack that can throw a hunter upwards then followed up with a wind ball while you are airborne. This can instantly cart a hunter from full health and the only way to evade is to Wirefall (zL + B) before the wind ball hits!
