There are those who can find just about anything, and their success is usually dependent on knowing how, and where, to look. |
As Scavenging is a Novice skill, it can be learned without having to spend skill points on other skills in the Social skill tree. You just need to spend a skill point on Scavenging to learn it.
The Scavenging skill is automatically learned by the following backgrounds:
Chef | Pilgrim | Ronin |
Rank | Challenge | Effects |
---|---|---|
1 | - | There's a chance you'll find extra credits when searching containers. |
2 | Loot 25 containers. | There's a chance you'll find extra ammo when searching containers. |
3 | Loot 75 containers. | There's a chance you'll find extra aid items, like Med Packs or chems, when searching containers. |
4 | Loot 150 containers. | Tracked resources will get highlighted when using the hand scanner. |
To progress the Scavenging Rank Up Challenge, you must loot at least one item from different containers. Stealing items from containers will also count towards completing the challenge.
Looting from Ammo Cases, First Aid containers, or the Contraband Caches in Security HQs will progress the challenge, but Weapon Cases or Helmet Displays will not.
If you ever encounter an empty container you have not looted yet, you can transfer an item you own into the container and loot it to progress the challenge.
Looting from containers you place on your Outposts will not progress the challenge.
Some containers must be digipicked, and that's when the Security Skill will be handy to complete this skill's challenge. The Security skill will allow you to not only open locked containers but access locked rooms that may have more containers to loot from.
