Landmines in Starfield can be detected using the Hand Scanner and can be disarmed by stealing them. Check out this guide to learn how to detect Landmines, how to disarm them, and other ways to deal with them.
Enemy Landmines can be detected using the Hand Scanner and will be highlighted in blue. Note that detected Landmines can be disarmed.
With this, it is a great idea to scan the surroundings of an abandoned area first using your Hand Scanner before infiltrating it!
We found out that some Landmines, regardless of their type, cannot be detected using the Hand Scanner. Undetected Landmines cannot be disarmed when your Hand Scanner is switched on. They can only be disarmed after turning off your Hand Scanner!
With this, other methods should also be considered when dealing with Landmines since using a Hand Scanner to detect them may sometimes be unreliable!
Other Ways to Deal With Landmines ▼
If the Hand Scanner can detect a Landmine, then you can easily pick it up by pressing the steal button. Stolen Landmines will be stored in your inventory.
If the Hand Scanner cannot detect a Landmine, you cannot disarm it while the Hand Scanner is toggled on. You need to turn off the Hand Scanner first before trying to steal it. So keep this in mind when you encounter undetected Landmines!

The easiest way to avoid an explosion of a Landmine, especially during combat, is to run away from it once you see the red Landmine icon on your screen.

If you see some Landmines before engaging in combat, it is best to shoot them from afar using your weapons. Make sure to do this as far away from the area as possible in order to not aggro nearby enemies.
Combat Tips and Mistakes to Avoid
Concealment is a Master tier Skill and is under the Physical skill tree. At Rank 1, you will no longer set off enemy mines. This means that enemy mines will not explode even when you step on them!
Note that you need to spend a total of 12 skill points in the Physical skill tree before it can be learned.
