Headless Character Bug and How to Fix

Headless Character Bug

Headless Character Bug occurs after scoping or aiming down sights in Starfield. Read on to learn how to prevent the bug from occurring, an explanation of this bug, and more!

How to Fix Bug

Open and Close the Hand Scanner

An easy way to fix this is to open and close the Hand Scanner by pressing the LB Button on an Xbox controller or F on a keyboard twice.

This method does not prevent the bug from happening again, however.

How to Use the Hand Scanner

Switch to First Person POV

The bug makes you stuck in place during third person view, but you can switch to first person view to go back to normal. Switching back to third person view will retain the headless bug.

How to Change POV

Reload to an Earlier Save

If the opening and closing the Hand Scanner isn't working, try to reload to an earlier save and try to avoid scoping or aiming down your sights until a patch fixes this bug.

Headless Character Bug Causes

Triggers After Scoping or Aiming Down Sights

The Headless Character Bug occurs after you try to aim with a scope during both first and third person, and when you aim with normal sights during first person. Your character becomes headless during third person view and cannot do most actions.
