You can purchase new ships, repair your ship, and modify it as well by talking to technicians at spaceports. Buy new parts for your ship and upgrade them to increase their effectiveness.
Ship Building and Customization Guide
Your spaceship will have a limited amount of power to work with, so allocate power depending on the situation. Pump more into your engines to move faster, to your shields when you're in danger, or to your weapons to deal quick, powerful damage.
Always try to get behind enemy ships, so that it will be much easier to aim and fire while you're tailing it from behind.
With the Targeting Control Systems skill, you can see and target individual parts of an enemy ship. You can shoot at their shield generators first in order to dismantle their shields or hit their weapons systems first so they won't be able to fight back.
After successfully destroying an enemy ship, don't forget to loot its debris, as the materials may be useful to you in the future.
If you get the opportunity, board enemy ships and clear out the inside by defeating all enemies in order to take control of the ship. After engaging in a gunfight, the ship will become yours, and you can fly it back to base and add it to your fleet.
After returning home from a battle, always make a point to repair your ship at a spaceport's technician before setting off on another mission.
This skill will make it easier for you to target individual subsystems on an enemy's ship. For example, you can focus on taking down an enemy's shield first thing so that it will be much easier and faster to deal huge amounts of damage.
